Yes, I know the feeling. A certain amount of the feeling like there is a

lump in the throat could be panic induced, but it's quite likely you have

hives in your throat. Did they use a scope to look down inside the airway?

Throat swelling from hives is not detectable with an x-ray. If you have

prednisone, I would take it. Do you have rescue meds - epi-pen, benadryl,

ephedrine, Primatene Mist? - Jackie

I often get the 'ghost' lump in my throat also when mouth swelling is

present. Feels like a little fat ball just sitting in there. Nothing to do

for it I'm told. VERY annoying and frustrating. Know how you feel.

Thanks Jackie,

No they didn't look down my throat with a scope. Just a popsicle

stick thingy (terrific medical terms, eh?) They did give me a steroid

IV, which didn't do much, and also a steroid dose pack. Have to take

those all week. Didn't even think of hives in the throat. UGH, it's a

yucky feeling.

I get the same feelings especially if my tongue swells. It is so scary. I

use to run to the ER but now I take benedryl (50mg) and the swelling does

start to go down. I keep looking in the mirror to make sure it is working.

I wish this all would go away but of course it wont. I take athrax at night

and tagament morning & evening. Sometimes i can be hive free for a day or

two or three. I also went for acupunture for a few weeks. I thought it was

helping but I guess not. I stopped for a while But i think I will go back to

it again.

Hope you are feeling well

Sandy
