Guest guest
Sounds like FMS to me Tami. My sister has FMS but also has a high tolerance for pain. I know it doesn't sound like it makes sense but it is possible. Tami wrote: > ok I am not sure how to word this but hopefully you will understand. I was told that I have a high tolerence for pain. I had a lung biopsy and never asked for pain meds. I was told that I have fibormyalgia. But not sure what you all mean by pain. I have constant pain throughout my whole body that feels like the flu aches but 3 times as worse. There are days that I sleep alot and barely move. There are days that I hurt so much that I just lay around. Is this FMS? > ~~~Tami~~~ > >

Guest guest
Welcome Anne, I am glad you joined our group. I think it has been a month for me here. I love it, cause I am not alone with this disease. This group has been there for many people and they treat you like friends. And since we are all in the same boat, some of us are treading water at times, they all are supportive of everyone. I think that is the best medicine, to know that someone out there can lend an ear. Hope you find this group helps you in support like it has me. Sending Comfort and Peace Janice " I wish we could change our dials to AM instead of FM!!! Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I am wondering if my posts are going through? I am waiting for someone to respond to them...and so far nothing...Am I feeling out of place here? ...Yes I am. I tried to respond to some people on this list but that didn't work either. How come? I feel that I am in the same boat as all of you are. I am in chronic pain and have some additional problems also. Just wondering if I am going to fit in here...I sure hope so, I could use the extra support...Thanks )

Just wondering if I am going to fit in here...I sure hope so, I could use the extra support...Thanks ) Hi I'm fairly new here too. I'm still feeling my way around. I think the key here is patience (something if I know ahead of time I'm going to have to wait in line 3 hours, I have all of the patience in the world, but if I don't know ahead of time I'm going to have to wait 45 minutes, I have very little.). People seem to be here a lot and then not much at all. I was hoping for a few more replies to my post about flares, but either people didn't feel able to answer my posts (yes, I did see a couple) or they just haven't arrived to see my post. I almost answered your post yesterday when you mentioned that you were going to the doctor, but I said to myself, nope, wait until you have answer about the kitties so not to post too many off topic posts. (By the way, they both came through surgery just fine, but the neutering kitty still is at the vet's since an overnight stay is mandatory. :-() About the time I was thinking of replying to that post, I saw your update come through. Since then I had been crafting a fine wonderful response (cough, sputter, actually, it made me step back a bit and feel guilty for whining like I have been) to it. I am sorry you didn't get good results and are having to wait to see Neurosurgeon. I also have to wait until April 25 to see a Neurologist which is my first step towards actually getting myself diagnosed. Since I've avoided most of the pain killers for endometriosis and haven't had anything prescribed for Fibro, I can't comment on any of those when someone asks. I hope yours works for you. Hope you feel a bit more supported. Darcy

Guest guest
Hi Conie, Welcome to our group. You are pretty normal. I think that at one time or another we all do or did it. You could call it a mourning period. There are a lot of things you will do without but as time goes on you will realize that you will do fine without them especially the first time you do something like are able to move the car seat closer to the steering wheel or like when you touch your sides and actually feel ribs there instead of a lot of fat. There is such a big world out there that is ready to open its arms to you. So just reach out and embrace it. Ramona 1/13/2003 357/210/? Guest guest
Hi Conie, Glad you decided to post. This is a great place to express any and all of your concerns, hopes, challenges and triumphs. I have found this groups to be an incredible source of support and information and I hope that it proves to be the same for you. Your surgery date is less than a month away . . . how exciting! Where will you be having your surgery? You said that you've been thinking about the things that you will have to live without . . . well, here are some of the things that I now live without --- fear of breaking the next chair I sit in or not being able to wedge my butt into that chair in the first place, shopping in stores for "super sized" women, driving without a seat belt because it wouldn't fit, dragging myself around on crutches because my knees wouldn't hold me . . .oh, yes and I also live without ice cream and lots of other decadent goodies. But I think that the trade-off is just fine. Actually, before I had surgery I could hardly imagine life with ice cream. It was the very last thing I gave up, but now I am about four and a half months out of surgery and I seldom even think of it. I look forward to getting to know you. Unfortunatly I spend more time thinking about the things I will have to live with out instead of thinking about all the new and wonderful thing I will be able to do once again. Like cross my legs!!!! Go swimming with my kids. I think I am doing this because of all the meetings and appointments I am going to. So much to remember and learn. Well I just wanted to say hello finally!!!! Guest guest
Hi Conie, I am just curious where you are having surgery? Richmond will not even schedule surgery until we are within 5 lbs of the goal they set for us. You said you have 10 lbs to lose, so it sounds like you are having surgery somewhere else. I should get a surgery date next Thurs when I see Dr. Baggs. Carolconie1954 wrote: I've been reading all your postings for about a month. Guest guest
Hi ! I am only 3 weeks post-op and I had my Open RNY with Dr. Fisher@Kaiser Richmond. To answer your question about how long before you feel like getting out and about, it really varies from person to person. You will find that everyone has a different experience. For me, I was fortunate that I didn't have much pain or nausea. I was up and walking around the floor almost every two hours. I had my surgery on 3/30 and was released to go home around 5 PM the following day. My roommate, on the other hand, had surgery the same day as me but had problems with pain and nausea and she stayed in the hospital until 4/2. When they discharge you, they want you to get outside and walk to help with the healing. I'd say for me, the first two days home, all I could do was go outside for my walk and I was pretty wimped after that. By the third day, I was ready to get out, so I went shopping but I found that got tired sooner than I expected. From that day on, I went out for my walks, but I also went window shopping or my friends/family would take me for a ride because I get easily stir crazy, but I would still get wimped. Today, at 3 weeks out, I still get tired around 6 PM, but I'm pretty active and busy most of the day. Anyways, good luck on your journey and I'm sure you'll find this group an important source of information because all of us are part of the Kaiser system, and you'll find, if you join any of the other Yahoo groups, that there is a lot of difference between this group and the other non-Kaiser/Pacific Bariatric WLS patients. That's why this group is so important to me. ette Post-op-3/30/04-Dr. Fisher 351/273/150??? > I also feel that I should introduce myself as I am new to the > group. Guest guest
Hi Kay, Thanks for the response. I also will have Dr. Baggs for my WLS. After you lost your 10% and saw the doctor to have the surgery scheduled did it take to actually get the WLS done? -----Original Message----- From: Kay Sent: Saturday, April 24, 2004 8:24 PM To: gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients Subject: Re: HI Hi , Welcome! I'm glad that you've found our not-so-little group - it has been a big help to me and I hope that it proves to be the same for you. I'm also a Richmond patient. Dr. Baggs did my surgery last December. I was very nervous about being in the hospital, but the folks at Richmond were really great. I wasn't in the hospital long - I got out of surgery about 6:00pm on a Monday and was released the next morning. As far as getting out and about . . . well, I wasn't the most eager of folks. I felt O.K. but I was very easily tired out - also, I was still relying pretty heavily on my crutches back then. It was probably about 5 days before I braved the outside world.
