Aleta,

I take Vicodan for pain. I cannot take any steroids which my doctor thinks

would help. I also took neurtonin which is considered an all around

medication. I have tinnitus and am sensitive to medications so we have a

problem in finding something that will work and that I can tolerate. As for

loss of balance, if you find a medication, let me know. I look like a drunk

sometimes staggering around.

Take care of yourself,

Irene

What drug is your doctor prescribing for pain? Are there any

prescriptions available for loss of balance? How about a

prescription

for fibro fog?

Hi Aleta:

I find Ultram to be helpful for pain. Some people don't like the side

effects, but they don't bother me. Good Luck.

only thing i have found to work very well for me..lasting from 2 6

this. I'm not thrilled with having this done since it will be painful and I

really think it is the FMS. I was just diagnosed with FMS so I don't know a

whole lot about all the symtoms that may go along with this. The doctor said he

doesn't see these symptoms in many people with FMS that's why he wants to do the

nerve conduction study. I'm anxious to see if any of you have had this problem.

Also, I'm wondering if there is anything you can do about this brain fog. I

Dear Trish & Llist,

Your doc's right.Get the test done. Its not really all that painful (mpov) -

your hands won't do the funky chicken like Glenn's in the movie " The

Right Stuff " but they will move on their own. I believe the doctor may be

checking you for thoraxic outlet syndrome - like carpal tunnel in the wrist, but

in the shoulder area where nerves go from the spine to the arms. Your symptoms

sound very llike what I went through 5-6 years ago. I don't think its FMS

related - but it may be an aggravating factor of FMS.

Respectfully,

Sering

PS

Have your heart checked too. You can live with everything else . . . .

Good Luck on your tests!

Hi Trish, I have the same thing in my legs and feet and have been

told the same thing -- that it is not the usual presentation - so I'm

special!!<BG> I had a nerve/muscle test when they couldn't figure

out if I had a post-op reflex sympathetic dystrophy - also atypical!--

and all was normal. Please don't take this to mean that you

shouldn't go along with what your doc suggests -- discuss it with

him. Maybe he'll agree to just wait and see for awhile. Good Luck --

Pat

Ok well you asked for it.....:o)

Were there any diabetics who after surgery were able to stop taking

insulin injections? Or (even better) both Insulin and oral

medications? My doctor says, though there is no guarantee, that I

may not need the insulin after I lose a certain amount of weight. I

was wondering if this happened for anyone and at what point (how

many pounds off) this happened.

How much weight on average do people lose in the first 3 months?...6

months?

How long after surgery did everyone feel normal again? I don't mean

eating. I mean....could go back to their normal rountine.

Shuttling kids....Go shopping....yardwork.

How long until the doctor would let you do resistance exercise? I

have a Bowflex my husband bought me to train before the surgery. I

really enjoy using it. But I wonder how long I am going to have to

wait. If you have never seen one it is like weight training. But

instead of using actual weights it's uses resistance.

OK I think that will do it for now!! :o)
