Guest guest
It is radiation in an oncology setting, I appeared at the cancer unit for treatment, but low dose, and I suffered none of the ill side effects that those who were being treated for cancer frequently experience. I do understand I have exposed to myself to the possibility of cataracts in about ten years as a result of the treatment. However, the double vision and swelling was such that I was willing to do almost anything to prevent further deterioration of vision and, naturally, hoped for a complete cure of the eye problems. So far everything appears to be good. I never suffered from ulceration of the eyes and always was able to close my eyes for sleep. I understand that both can happen with thyroid eye disease. I would stand in front of the mirror and look up and then down and could actually see the lag occur. My endo and opthal both would use lights to check on the lag during an examination. Guest guest
No, in my case the lid did not come down as quickly in the left eye as it did in the right eye. This would be from looking up and then looking down. I suspect everyone has some difference in lid lag, but not the pronounced lid lag that occurs with thyroid eye disease. Incidentally, puffy eyes seem to go with Graves and allergies in my family. I think quite a few with Graves complaint of swelling. A sister-in-law suffers from drooping eye lids, eventually had surgery correction for it. I don't believe that is related to Graves and think there actually is a medical term for it.
