Guest guest
Isn't great that our children help us to rejoice in things like " no " games? We still rejoice when Aubrie and bicker like typical sibs. Life is funny... Michele W Fun with " No " Dylan was in the bath today. He loves to throw the shampoo bottles, 1/2 full cups, pouring pitcher etc. out of the tub. Usually I just have to take them out and put them on the counter to avoid a total flood. Today he went to get a bottle and I said No. He stopped and put the bottle back. He waited a moment, looked at me then tried again. I signed No. Again he put the bottle back. Next he tries to gently nudge me away from the tub. I don¹t move, so he goes back to the bottle, with his sly little smile. I say no and on the story goes. Finally he gets the bottle, sneaks it around the far end of the tub, to take it out on the other side of me. I meet him on that side with No. he laughs and tries to be faster than me on the other side. Again No. Finally he gets ready to throw it over my head, I say No. Finished and put the bottle back. By then bath time was over. He has responded to a signed No before, but having this reciprocal conversation about it was awesome. Thought you would appreciate the wonder of this moment. Guest guest
That is so awesome Kim. I think we really appreciate everything. I recently got this sentence verbatim from Kennedy --- " Guess what Mom? You're a boogerhead! " . Now, most parents would be aghast but no, not me, I was like " DANG that was six words together, a rhetorical question and answer all in one!!! " I was totally impressed. I'm happy for your " no " game...sounds like great fun. It's so awesome to see them " get it " ... Guest guest
and Michel, It is true we rejoice over the most basic of things; he wanted to slide, because it was fun instead of something someone made him do; he looked at the puppy, and even that he is not afraid to get in the bath anymore. Every day little things that happen that we cannot take for granted. Guest guest
Kim, What a wonderful " wonder moment " . Thanks for sharing. We here in north east Ohio are in the grips of much snow and cold. It took me 45 min to drive 16 miles to school today. Most of the snow was " down county " where I live. The down county schools were closed. but I teach up north. The parking lot at school had maybe a half an inch. My driveway had about 8 inches of snow plus drift. I drove through a white out. I was thinking about the picture of the cactus in your yard you showed me this summer. Would you like some snow to put on it? Lynn Fun with " No " Dylan was in the bath today. Guest guest
Hi, Sentences are wonderful. I remember when was little. We would even accept " meanness toward brother " if it was in a sentence. 's 3, 4, and 5 th grade teachers would write " too social, talks to much " on her reportcards. I would cry tears of joy. If only the really understood. I love how this " family " can rejoice in the " small " ( not to us) things. Lynn Fun with " No " Dylan was in the bath today.
