Hi my name is Kari, It is my first time posting. My dad was

diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer 5-20-03 with liver mets to his left

and right lobes of his liver. He is a 56 year old man that has been

healthy all of his life. The doctor said there are so many lesions on

his liver that they can't even count. He has no surgery on his

rectum or liver. I believe they said they can't do anything about

the liver, just chemo to shrink the lesions. He started chemo a week

later after he was diagnosed CPT 11, 5FU and leucovorin. He had no

side effects from the chemo. He says he feels fine even the doc says

he looks really good. He had his CT Scan on 8-19-03 and the lesions

on his liver did not shrink nor grow and the doctor says that is a

good thing. They found two small spots on his lower spine. They did a

Bone Scan and that determined that is was cacner for sure. So now he

is on Xeolda and Oxaliplatin. What I don't understand is why they

can't do anything about the liver because that is what their main

concern is. is there some other treatment they can do for the liver

along with his current treatment? Surgery? Anything ? Why haven't

they taken the tumor out of the rectum that tumor is what caused

this whole metastis in the first place. I hear people

say lesions and tumors, are they the same thing? Our family is so

scared right now. What about the Milk thistle i have been hearing

about? Will it interfere with his treatment? If anyone have any

suggestions or resources for me on any of the questions I have

asked? I would appreciate it so much. Thank you and God Bless!
