Guest guest Posted February 7, 2004 Report Share Posted February 7, 2004 , I live in Massachusetts and there is a " swap " system based out of one of the pediatric rehab places. When our PT's need to try something new or we have a student who has outgrown an appliance (walker, wheelchair, gait trainers, car seat, etc.) they donate to this agency. It is Friday, as you know, so I can't find out any more until Monday, but perhaps they know if there is a nationwide network. I will ask. In the meantime, I wonder if you have a local " UCP " (United Cerebral Palsy)--they may have or know of a way to get/swap, etc. Also, I know our PT's are constantly writing letters to Medicaid defining the need for equipment and that, with an orthopedic's letter will often override the Medicaid denial.
