I have AS too and my ankles, wrists, knees and other small joints are often

affected. The small joint problems are most prevalent in women with AS. The

site that Liz put up recently on AS was by far the most informative one I've

read yet on AS. It went to great lengths to explain the differences in the

manifestations between men and women.

I strongly suggest anyone with AS read it. Also anyone who's having trouble

trying to decide if they have AS or RA. Seems the manifestations in women begin

much more like RA and are often misdiagnosed. It cleared up which one I had,

anyway.
