Guest guest
Kim- First of all, where in IL are you? We are in west central, about 1 hr west of Springfield. We have family in Naperville, so we are up that way several times a year as well. I got the info on the lotto from my service coordinator at the time. It comes through the Dept of Human Services. The program is called the IL Family Assistane Program. The biggie with it is that the chid has to qualify under mental retardation. I can't recall the exact categories of impairment that qualified, but I was initially concernced that Aubrie wouldn't fit. We sent in the initial card, got chosen, and went ahead with the psych eval to see what would happen. Aubrie was about 2 then. Because of all of her impairments combined, she tested low enough on the test that the evaluator could not say that she was not cognitively impaired. She was definitely delayed in all areas. So we were accepted into the program. Each time we have our review, I wait for them to tell us she no longer qualifies. I look it up on the web and found this link: http://www.illinoislegalaid.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.dsp_content & contentID=\ 218 Qualifying disabilities are: " Severe Autism; Severe or Profound Mental Retardation (IQ of 40 or less); Severe Emotional Disturbance, which severely impairs the performance of major life activities; or Severe and Multiple Impairments, with substantial developmental disability (such as mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, or autism), and multiple severe or profound impairments of physical, sensory, behavioral, or cognitive functioning, and substantial developmental delays in cognitive, affective or psychomotor behavior. " The " Multiple impairment " area is where Aubrie falls. Get yourself in the pool for the lotto -- you never know if you'll be accepted or not. Michele W Aubrie's mom lottery system in illinois Hi! I'm new to the group I have to children 8 and Blake (CHARGEr) will be 5 in May. Could someone please give me some info on how you get into the lottery system in Illinois? What are the qualification's? Thanks,Kim _______________________________________________ No banners. No pop-ups. No kidding.
