Guest guest
Regarding the CONSTANT COMPLAINING post on the list serve; RIGHT ON. I usually don't read the list serve anymore because it is one whine after another. Hey people, its life! This is the hand that was dealt us, lets get on with it and try to make the best of it we can. Guest guest
I think I had a good idea of how to " stop them up " . I went to a local hardware store and bought several sizes of cork stoppers (for ten cents apiece). I now can put a " stopper " in any bottle I save for kt.. I try to only save dark glass bottles. " I am saving a bunch of bottles for brew and I asked: 1) how do you stop them up and 2) do you think I should use recycled bottles? I realize I am new here and that there is much going on with dental care and a possible poisoning with molded brew, etc.... I will be patient, but really would love to hear some bottling advice when someone has a chance. Meanwhile good on you all. Alice
Guest guest
I believe that it will take two weeks for the cork to pop out. I've had several of the commercial quality hard plastic pop bottles that I bought to pop out at the necks from the pressure. It was truly bizarre. Jim Hi! Waving my flag! Guest guest
You could visit a wine shop and get the corks used for champagne and the tool for compressing the corks and inserting them into the bottles. You boil the corks to soften them before putting them in the tool. Personally, I use the same screw on cap that came with the bottle. I haven't had one explode, yet. I bottle them with little or no air at the top. In a month the bottles have swollen up so much that there is about two inches of airspace between the top of the bottle and the top of the kombucha. Now, that really puts a head on the kombucha when it is poured. _____ From: kombucha tea [mailto:kombucha tea ] On Behalf Of Jim Scannell Sent: Wednesday, September 28, 2005 12:10 PM kombucha tea Subject: Re: Digest Number 558 I believe that it will take two weeks for the cork to pop out.
