sorry, , I meant to send this to the group (and of course you), so I

apologise for the duplicate message....

I sometimes have a sleep problem where I will wake up in the middle

of the night and have much difficulty in falling back asleep. I asked

my doctor about the Melatonin. She said she doesn't try to disuade

people from using it, but to be sure and get the non-natural, or

man-made form. The reason was because (and I haven't looked up this

information to verify) the natural melatonin is made from the cud of

cows and there is a small chance that the product could be contaminated

with Mad Cow's Disease. I opted to take a prescription sleeping pill

called Sonata on the 2 or 3 nights per month that I have a problem. I

didn't like the idea of sleeping pills, but I didn't like the idea of

cow's cud, either. Supposedly, the Sonata won't leave you with a

hung-over feeling in the morning. They have worked well for me and can

be used to help a person fall asleep as well as to stay asleep. I think

my sleep problem is hormone related rather than rheumatic related.

.......just my two cents......
