Hi ,

I thought of something else after I posted the other message regarding

hair changes, diet and meds. Stress can also cause hair loss, and during

the time my hair was falling out I was extremely stressed over this

condition and what it has done to me. When I began the diet and felt

there was some hope I became less stressed. This could be the reason too

that my hair condition got better. Also remembered that a few yrs ago my

sister-in-law was under so much stress that she lost about all her hair

and had to wear a wig for awhile. Just another thought. Elaine

Hi ,

I am so sorry about your grandfather. It sounds as if stress could very

well be the reason for your hair loss. I think that was my problem too

and not the meds or the diet. I know that more medications is the last

thing anyone wants, but you might ask your doctor if there is anything

he can give you to help the stress you are going thru right now. Maybe a

low dosage of an anti anxiety med. Keep your chin up hon.

Love, Elaine

HI My mom was under alot of stress when my grandmother passed away

after about 6months after my grandmother died my mom lost all of her hair for

over 6 months. It had nothing to do with Hives and she has never been on

Pred. I have been on Pred for over a year and at one time 80mg a day I have

not had any hair changes. I real sorry to hear about your grandfather the

hives are enough to have to deal with. My mom did get her hair back after

about a year. She had some type of Disease im not quite sure of the name of

it but i could find out. Thought i would share that with everone.

Hi ,

The recommended dosage for the Atarax is:

For Anxiety....50 to 100 mg, 4 x a day.

For itching/allergies....25 mg, 3 or 4 x a day.

The dosage you are taking may help the DPU, and/or hives, but possibly

not enough for you to get any benefit for the anxiety/depression. You

might ask your Dr about this. Don't up your dosage without his approval.

This med is even prescribed for children under 6 yrs of age at rather

high doses. It may take your body awhile to adjust to the med or higher

doses Usually it takes antidepressants several weeks before you notice

any benefit. When I took the Tagamet I was prescribed 400 mg 2 x a day.

I don't know why your Dr wouldn't at least let you try the prescription

type. If you have good insurance it would probably be cheaper that way

than otc. There is research data and patient confirmation that the

Atarax/Tagamet combo is beneficial in relief of symptoms for 'some

people'. I had a wonderful and exciting afternoon with Tami and

Kristi. I'm sure a pic of us 3 will show up here soon. Sometime in the

future we really should have some regional get-togethers. I've

personally mentioned this to our dear Phil, so maybe he will come up

with a way to divide the states based on the number of members in

certain locations. Of course this leaves out our good buds in other

countries, but I think something could be worked out for them too, The

best of all would be one big meeting of all the members. I've made some

dear friends out of the states that I would love to meet too.

Hope you're having a good day.

Luv, Elaine
