Guest guest
When I first started hiving, we wondered if there was a hormone connection. I had a hysterectomy due to endometriosis 2-1/2 years before I started hiving. They left a piece of ovary behind so I wouldn't go into menopause, but then the endometriosis came back. I was doubled over in pain and was scheduled for surgery when my hives began. The day before the surgery, I ended up in the ER for the first time for shocking. With that first hiving episode, my body was totally out of control. My immunologists at UCLA even tried taking me totally off of hormone replacement therapy, hoping the hormones were the cause. If anything, the hives got worse, plus I went into major menopause. So, maybe there is some sort of connection there. - Jackie > >Reply-To: urticariaegroups >To: urticariaegroups >Subject: RE: To Kay >Date: Tue, 29 Aug 2000 13:38:07 -0500 > >WOW the lightbulb just went off, I had a hysterectomy just before mine >started >to! > _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Kay - I tried the hormone patches, and itched so bad I couldn't stand it. Even tried them when I wasn't hiving and got an itchy rash on the site of the patch within an hour of applying it. Estrogen gives me migraines, so I no longer use any replacement therapy. No longer have symptoms of menopause, either. I take plenty of calcium, and still have borderline osteoporosis (being on so much pred in the past didn't help). Do take some over-the-counter women's formula for menopause. I have never tried the cream; wonder how well it works? All - I'm wondering what the reasons are for everyone's hysterectomies. Again, here is another possibility for hidden infection. Mine was for endometriosis. Both times I had surgery for it, I had such a massive infection going on that was really difficult to get rid of. I still believe many of us, myself included, just may find the answer to a " cure " by finding and treating hidden infection. - Jackie _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Jackie, I'm really beginning to wonder about the connection with hives and a hysterectomy. So many people have said it started after they had a hysterectomy. It may be that the body is fighting against the artificial or prescription type hormones. Did you ever try the hormone patches? I used them for about the first month after my hysterectomy and then went on the pills but the hives didn't start until almost a year later anyway. I was just wondering if maybe the patches might work better since they are not injested. Someone told me that they use a hormone cream that they apply every other day instead of the pills and because it does not go into the liver, it seems to work. I think I may ask my gynacologist to give me the patches next time. I will let you know what happens if I do. Guest guest
I tried the patches, but was allergic to the glue that holds them on, LOL what luck huh. I had my hysterectomy in 1990 but did not start with hives until around 1993. Zelma
Guest guest
I agree totally, there are too many of us for it to be a coincidence. Guest guest
Hi, I think there has to be a connection between Hysterectomy and hormones! I had a Hysterectomy in June, 1998 and my hives started in August, 1999! I started out on the patch and also was allergic to the glue. Then was on Estratest for almost a year then switch to Premarin. Has anyone asked their Gyn. about the connection yet? Thanks, Deana
Guest guest
Deana, Sounds almost identical to my story. I haven't talked to the gyn yet. Have you found that the premarin has made any difference? Kay Re: hysterectomy Hi, I think there has to be a connection between Hysterectomy and hormones!
