You shouldn't use echinacea for more than 7-10 days, as it loses it

effectiveness after that. So going off it for a number of days is a good

thing.

I use valarian root on occasion, usually to help me sleep, tho it makes me

groggier than all get out in the morning, so I will only use it if I

absolutely have to. I find it works well, but I try milk and magnesium

first to get me to sleep.

Your welcome :-)

As for the milk and magnesium method, I usually use 133 mg of magnesium. i

tried 250 mg one time and had the most difficult time waking up the next

morning. Worked too well LOL (tho the best nights sleep I had had in a

long time, pity I had to go to work that day).

Hi Everyone,

I use both garlic and echinacea. The garlic I take says to take 3 capsules

a day, but I only take one everyday unless I start coming down with

something. Like a cold or sinus trouble I'll take 1 capsule 3 times a day.

The echinacea I only take when I am ill. You are not suppose to take

echinacea all the time. I think it is 10 days on 20 days off or vise versa.

My endo didn't think I should be using Valerian, has anyone heard of that.

It is suppose to calm you, so I use it sometimes when I am all wound up

before bed. Garlic is suppose to be good for the heart, I was out for about

6 weeks, kept forgetting to get it and that is when my blood pressure went

up. My blood pressure had been running about 116/65 was the highest, and

went to 130/80. Since, I started on the garlic again it is almost back to

what it was.

Jody,

I use to have problems with sinus infections all the time. I just take one

garlic a day. Garlic is suppose to be like an antibiotic. I haven't had

trouble this year, but we've had mosquitos so bad from the rain, we can't

stay outside very long, or just stay in period. When my allergies get bad I

use fennel seed, fenugreek seed and anise seed mixed in equal parts and use

1 tablespoon per teapot, I seep the seeds 5 minutes. I don't like strong

tea. Those two things are all I've done, besides change doctors which that

could have been the problem. If you like put some honey in it. Those seeds

help the sinuses plus I used it for my youngest when he had colic. As soon,

as we get a cold or sinus trouble we make it by the pot. You need a fine

screen ball. I've put this in here before. One of those seeds helps

cleanse the colon too. And three years ago when I started drinking this tea

was when I really started to feel good. I've always wondered if it was

because of cleansing the colon, some people believe in that. My former DR.

gave me lots of bad stuff.

There, that's what I meant about Echinacea. I knew someone would clarify

it! Thanks Elaine.

Re: re: echinacea

Debbie,

You might want to think twice about the echinacea. It's an immune system

stimulant and in Graves' your immune system is already stimulated. On the

bottle, there should be a caution about autoimmune diseases. You can

strengthen or modulate your immune system, but you don't want to stimulate

it

too much. Elaine

When I went hyper again, things were so mild I didn't really need them. As

long as I'm careful about what I eat and drink I can keep the tachycardia

to a minimum. Tho there have been a couple times I grabbed my hubby's

inderal, but as he is now on another beta blocker, i don't do that anymore

(not to mention we can't get propranolol here anymore and inderal is WAY

too expensive now and I really don't want to get a med I don't need most

of the time).
