Guest guest
Over the last little bit I've been trying a lot of differnt message boards and haven't gotten a fraction of the help that I got from here. I am soo grateful. But first- my sincerest condolesences to MJ from Michigan. As a michigander myself and caregiver, I wept when I read your message. You will be in my prayers for some time. I appreciate everyones suggestions about my mom - I think maybe that I'm so scared for Mom that I might be being bullish about her food. She'll drink Boost but continues to loose weight so I've organized a bland diet, high in protein and nutrition to help her gain quickly. Perhaps I need to back off and serve nutrition drinks only - until she's naturally ready for more. She's still sleeping 15 - 18 hours a day and I'm afraid that its because she's weak that her body doesn't have the energy to heal and stay awake. Is this normal? Should I back off/
Guest guest
Is your Mom by any chance still on pain killers. The doctor gave my husband Vicodan after surgery. He too was doing a lot of sleeping. My daughter and I changed the vicodan to Ibuprofin and what a change that made in him. If that would not have controlled the pain, which it did, I would have given the Vicoden back. He has a very high pain tolerance so it was worth a try. After a day or two of no pain killer he was up and taking 2 long walks a day. Just a thought thay may work for you.
