Shirley wrote about her trips to Hawaii and that her doc recommended upping

her prednisone when she goes there to help keep swelling down in her ankles.

Good advice to ask a doc about if you have to travel more than 2 hours or so

by air!

I also noticed that Shirley said they stay at an R & R place for retirees. I

think that adds Shirley to our list of military retirees and other patients

who were associated with the military. I count five or six of us at the

moment--wondering if there are more. 20% of patients on the RP list being

from military families may be the same as the percentage of military families

in the US overall but I sort of doubt that. Does anybody else have any

thoughts on this? Are there any list members out there who have not told us

they were from military families and are willing to add that information to

their RPC demographic profiles?

Hello Group,

Since I joined this wonderful group of people about 10 days ago, I was not

aware that you were wondering if there is a connection between RP and

military service. You might want to access the website of Dr. & Professor

Garth Nicholson. He has done extensive research on Gulf War Illness. I

think, at first, those in control of the Pentagon had hoped that he would go

away. Well, he didn't. They have been forced to look into the issue of

GWI, and in fact, the government is using the protocol developed by Dr.

Nicholson to conduct a study connecting GWI with mycoplasma. He has also

linked mycoplasma with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome as well as

rheumatoid arthritis (and it's related diseases.) His website is at

www.immed.org if you are interested. Other people have wondered if there is

a connection between these diseases and the healthcare field. Any comments?

just my two cents,

Connie

That's interesting, Angie. I'll see if I can find out anything. Also, I

still haven't forgotten about promising you the tapes of last year's

physician's conference on using antibiotics for rheumatic diseases. I will

try to get them from my friend early next week, after I get back from seeing

Dr. Franco in California. I'm hoping that he can tell me if I do or if I do

not have RP.

I wish a recovery to health to each and every one of you. There's got to be

a solution to these diseases. We'll find it.

take care and hugs,

Connie

Connie,

fyi: We think there is a connection with the chemical chromium 6 which was

dumped water tables in the Calif. desert where my husband grew up. His

sister has had 5 maglinant brain tumors and there is a lot of leukemnia (sp?).
