This is a 3-part question for you resurfed ladies out there... first,

how soon after surgery were you able to have sex again?

second, can you wear any type of shoes again - heels, mainly?

And thirdly, did surgery aftermath also involve a substantial

weight loss for you?

Thanks,

SG

3 weeks, with lots of care and pillows (hands and knees on bed,

pillows for support under torso, which is what I did pro-op until

about a month before surgery when even that started hurting too much.

More will evolve with strength and stretching.

I haven't worn heels for a long time anyway.

Can't answer your questions about sex or high heels, but I lost a lot

of weight after surgery - over half a stone (7-10 lbs). It wasn't

all because of lost muscle as my waist / tummy has gone down about 3

inches.

Hi. Sex again at 6 weeks, no problem. (Very conservative doc.) High heels for

an hour or two at 8 weeks, no problem...except I live in Florida so haven't been

wearing pantyhose yet. Gained six pounds sitting around for six weeks, have lost

12 lbs. in the last six weeks because I am exercising and not raiding the pantry

so often. I am continually amazed at the lack of pain...it is wonderful! Good

luck to you. ann

Can't answer that one....

I wear heels to church and work. Not terribly high, probably no more than

1 1/2 inches. They are ok on the hips, but they still hurt the feet, so I

only wear them when I need to.

Immediately after, I lost a whole bunch of weight. One can only balance so

much on a walker and crutches, so I didn't eat as much. Unfortunately,

when I was able to navigate better, I was still having lots of muscle

trouble, so couldn't exercise as much as I needed to, and the weight I lost

came back on. Now I've just got to make up my mind to get out and exercise

more and get it off. It's a matter of schedule now--working full time,

school 1/2 time, etc.

4 weeks, I was ready sooner but my dear man was afraid of hurting me.

I am little he isn't. Had to try a few positions to find the most

comfortable.

>>> second, can you wear any type of shoes again - heels, mainly?<<<

Haven't tried heels yet, I am 6 months post op...they weren't high

priority. I wear mostly sandals or work boots.

I lost a lot of weight for me. Went from 110lbs to 96lbs. Couldn't

eat after surgery, I was anemic and constantly queasy. I survived on

those " Boost " nutritional supplement drinks. I am now up to 103lbs

and will likely stay there. I eat like a pig but my life is

physically demanding and very active.

Good luck

11 long days and nights......

I personally haven't worn heels since my wedding and then traded em

in for flats at our reception! (11yrs. ago) I do wear a pair of

sandals every now and then that are about 2 1/2 in. tall but they're

tall all over and not just in the heel area. Of course I have to

readjust my crutches when I wear them because I'm normally barefoot

the majority of the time, inside and out!

I think I've lost about 5 lbs since 5 1/2 weeks ago and haven't done

anything different other than I can move now. BOXWOMAN:)

help cushion the hip with soft-soled shoes?? Gives me a good enough

excuse to continue wearing sneakers whenever I can....

>I've lost 15 of the 22 lbs I gained from inactivity before surgery -

and I've not really started to get back into the " exercise habit "

yet. Deb
