Guest guest
Hi , Just wanted to put my two cents worth in on this topic. A year and a half ago my neuro in Houston had me on lorazapam for Stiffman Syndrome. I was doing fair on that, could walk through house without assistance. He added baclofen, 60 mgs per day. I seemed to be doing worse from the start of it. The day I took the full dose my right leg and foot felt funny, like they were swollen or numb. From that point on I had to walk with assistance of a walker. I cut back to 30 mgs a day. He added sinemet to " loosen " me up and changed the atavin to diazapam and I did better. I later changed neuros to one here in town, Longview. Houston was a 10 hr round trip and we had made 8 trips in two and a half yrs. The neuro here told me to stay on the 60 mgs of baclofen and we would probably increase it. I told her what I thought about it and she said it was just a coincidence that my condition was just getting worse. Well, everytime I increase it my walking is horrible, my feet barely shuffle, and I am short of breath, and have a harder time speaking. I told her that I was in a support group and some couldn't handle the higher dose to which she replied, " well, maybe we better let them treat you " . Whoa!!! She isn't the sweetest but I knew that. Anyway, I didn't tell her but " ain't " a bad idea. Baclofen seems to be the med of choice but I think different doses for different people. I am doing 10 mg 3 times a day. Am still stiff and will probably try cutting back a little more. She added 2 mgs. of Zannaflex at bedtime. Love the group and the good work being done, and the good info, and the neat bunch of people. Smiles, Arlene in Texas
