Guest guest
Chantelle I am a dental hygienist. When we have a patient that complains of sensitivity to hot, we first want to know if the pain goes right away or if it lingers. If it goes right away, you may have a small crack in your tooth. If it lingers and throbs, you may have an abcessed tooth. With the sensitivity to sweets, you need to rule out cavities. If these things are ruled out, know that some people have generalized sensitivity that may be helped by a prescription strength stannous fluoride toothpaste or rinse. We prescribe these in our office if the patient has tried Sensodyne toothpaste without improvement. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Chantelle, My dentist said that I had recessed gums and the chemicals in the toothpaste was causing pain in the nerves in my teeth. Plain original arm and hammer toothpaste worked for me. I guess it has less chemicals. Anyway, it worked for me. Good luck, I hope you find the answer. Guest guest
It stays and throbbs for a little while. I had the cavity ruled out cause the dentist checked out the stuff and filled in all cavities and holes. He said that my gums were probably sensitive but it feels like its coming from the tooth and its a long 15 seconds or so where it just hurts like no tomorrow but the pain goes away slowly.
