Guest guest
Dear Cara, I used to feel just like you....that this illness was something that must be " endured. " I'm sorry you had such a bad day hiving. Now, when I can't take it, I go to the ER. I get IV steroids and IV benadryl and Epinepherine if applicable. My suffering is an emergency. I deserve not to suffer. I'm not sure why you are upset about taking another Allegra. I guess I didn't read previous posts....but, I see no reason to feel bad about treating this illness. We deserve health. Judy
Guest guest
Wow, that's a terrible place to be! Now, I'm a Nurse, so maybe I take things too literally....when you say you are allergic to anything they could give you......are you sure? I just don't like seeing anyone suffer needlessly....... I mean.....are you allergic to pain killers, anti anxiety agents, steroids......tranquilizers....... If I were you, I'd need some relief.....and I'd just need to be absolutely sure I wasn't suffering needlessly..... If the only thing that gave me relief was tranquilizers that just made me unconscious for a time...that's what I'd take....to relieve suffering. I know the suffering we go through.... I'm so sorry for you. Judy

Guest guest
I'm glad you have a supportive doctor. Sounds like you now need a really good pharmacist. The drugs can be ordered from the company in pure, powder form and compounded by a pharmacist. You need a pharmacist licensed and trained in compounding. They actually do the chemistry and mix and make the pills. If binders are the problem, they can control that. Compounding pharmacists are few and far between and expensive, but if it relieves your suffering, it's worth looking into. Also, have you tried the liquid forms of drugs? -Judy

Guest guest
I agree Judy we do deserve health, but by taking the Allegra or any other pill, I am hurting myself because I'm allergic to every pill I take. The Allegra will give me a few hours relief but then slams me hard with the worst hives I've ever seen. So I'm trying not to take them, because the hives before the Allegra weren't as bad as the ones after, I've never seen anything like what is happening to me now, I want it over and yet I couldn't handle what was happening to me last night and I took another one. I hope I have the strength to throw the rest away today. I can't go to the hospital because I'm allergic to anything they would give me. I talk to God a lot. Guest guest
Oh Judy, the list sometimes seems endless........ I am allergic to aspirin anti inflamatories (motrin etc) pennicilin tetenus every pain pill I've tried every antihistimine I've tried sleeping pills anti depressants steriods <---the absolute worst offender vitamins I sometimes wonder if it's the binders they use to make the pills. My doctor says if I'm not allergic to something, that once I take it my body will turn it into a allergy. To aggrivate my hives, I am in a lot of pain with arthritis all through my body, when the pain level gets high so do the hives and I loop in and out of which is worse. One of the sad things about this is I live with my mom and it breaks my heart to see her hurt so to watch me. Thank you for listening. I am going to call my doctor this morning, perhaps just taking something for a day or two to get me past this might work, she really racks her brain for me. Guest guest
Hi-I just wondered if you were allergic to homeopathic remedies too? I got some relief from homeopathic remedies so perhaps this might help you. I took " urtica urens " which comes in different strengths - you would need to consult a homeopath. I have just checked in my homeopathic book and it comes in cream form to apply topically too. (Common name:dwarf stinging nettle). It says " urtica is an excellent remedy for skin rashes, for example, hives. Also, skin eruptions that are suppressed by steriod ointments can lead to diarrhea, which is eased by urtica. Urtica is also an effective remedy for rheumatism and is given for acute gout, nerve inflammation and neuralgia. It is also good for burning urine that causes itching and may be associated with cystitis. " Hope this might help. Guest guest
I don't know if I'd react to that or not but I sure would be willing to try, especially the cream. I am the queen of creams, a tube of this a jar of that, another tube of something else, and where ever I go in the house something is close by. I often wonder (God forbid) if I had to evacuate what I would do with out my comfort products. I should make myself a survival kit! Guest guest
No, I haven't tried liquid drugs, nor compounded drugs, and it's funny I've been telling doctors for years that I usually don't have a reaction to shots but that's just not a avenue any one of them has gone down. I probably need to assert myself more, I tend to visit to much when I go. My doctor tells me her troubles and then says " I have to stop this, let's talk about you " .
