after vats, (oct 06) they did want me to take pred as well but i

refused. initially i refused imuran as well but i decided that was

just stupid. i should at least try it.

the surgeon who did the vats told me that " it was just as well you

had biopsy before medication as pred wouldn't be of any use to you

and you have saved yourself a lot of grief " . when i told my

consultant this she was not happy but i stuck to my guns. since then

i've noticed lots about how pred isn't useful to uip. i also bought

that novel that was talked about here last year 'living with pred'

and am aware that at some point down the line i will end up taking it

simply to breathe as well when/if i get a transplant. i started

imuran at 25mg and only increased by 25mg each month until i reached

150. its amazing how much improvement i've had. together with pulm

rehab, better diet (i'm trying to cut out salt for the pred days

ahead), lots of vegtables, vitamin c, omega 3, multi-vitamin. i try

not to give my body extra work digesting processed crap.

someone here suggested that i could decide not to take pred until

further down the line and i'm very grateful for that advice. my

pft's have not changed since diagnosis. regarding the liver, i have

come to the conclusion that the NAC is helping to negate any effects.

the best thing i've done to help myself, apart from finding this

group, is to give up work. we downsized. i miss my salary but i'm

enjoying my life instead of dragging myself about like i was doing

for the previous 5/6 years.

ok last but not least, considering i'm following all my instincts, i

went to that free four week taster anger and stress management class

and i have been expressing my feelings all over the place. ha ha ha.

i dont say this often but - i love this group - it has made such a

difference to me. i appreciate you all and value my seat at the

table.
