Guest guest
As I magically invented a highly oxygenated room last night on ship for our party, where our supplemental oxygen wasn't necessary, it did make me think about the real possibilities, even those that sound quite far-fetched. Now the nearest I know to something of that nature is a Hyperbaric Chamber. Has anyone here ever been in or used one? I only became aware of them because of athletes using them to aid in recovery from injury. You might find this link interesting: http://www.hypertc.com/ Basically the theory is one we all know and that is that all of our body needs oxygen. Taken a step further it is that oxygen fuels our body but also supports our immune system. Now that brings us to another chicken/egg issue-is the link between PF and Autoimmune diseases the autoimmune disease causing PF or could it be the oxygen shortage leading to autoimmune diseases or a common cause for each. Some of the basics of the chamber theories: 1. What is Mild Hyperbaric Therapy? -Mild Hyperbaric Therapy (HBT) is a safe method of delivering more oxygen to the body at the cellular level. nHBT provides the optimal environment for the body to carry out vital cell processes, thereby increasing the capacity for the body to heal itself. -HBT utilizes filtered pressurized ambient air to dissolve oxygen directly into the plasma, cerebral and spinal fluids, flooding tissues and vital organs with oxygen. -Mild Hyperbaric Therapy allows for healing at the cellular level, which is critical for changes to be made which in turn affect healthy tissue formation, making it possible for healthier organs and ultimately a healthier body overall. And as to how or why it is purported to work: How does it work? -The mild hyperbaric chamber is filled with compressed ambient air from 2 to 4.5 pounds per square inch. (1.3 ATA max) This is the equivalent of 11 feet below sea level. -The increased pressure allows the blood plasma and other liquids of the body to absorb additional oxygen thus greatly increasing oxygen uptake by the cells, tissues, glands, organs, brain, and fluids of the body. -The resulting uptake of oxygen allows for increased circulation to areas with swelling or inflammation. At the same time, the increased pressure decreases swelling and inflammation. -Oxygen is then utilized by the body for vital cell functions, healthier cells equals healthier tissues, and organs. -The human body is capable of healing itself when it has what it needs. There is NOTHING the human body needs more than OXYGEN. I just found it interesting. First to note the need of our entire body. Obviously, we all know there in nothing needed more than oxygen. Second, just the concept that, who knows, as magical and imaginary as my room last night was, maybe there potentially will be some forms of comfort rooms possible where the air is filled with a higher percentage of oxygen and we're able to just relax and enjoy for periods of time. Oh, it may sound all space age, but hold it we long ago did enter the space age. I still have to remind myself that the majority of people alive today have never lived in a period in which man wasn't flying in outer space. It is the only one of its kind in the United States, the other one is in Australia. They even have a bathroom in in them. There will be studies on this very subject that they will be doing. I will keep you posted as they get results.
