Guest guest
Hi , Althugh it sounds like some definite compulsive behavior, lining food up in 4's. I can't help but wonder if she might be also telling you she is still hungry. I know that and Kendra are both on the tiny side and for Kendra she definitely has more need of food. I agree with you wholeheartedly that might do much better with more frequent small meals. It makes a lot of sense to me. What I read recently says that one glass of water per each ten pounds of weight is appropriate, but that is for a 'typical' person not necessarily someone with complex issues such as CHARGE. But if it is accurate, I guess it would mean might benefit from 6 glasses of water per day. obsessing and compulsing over food Hello! I know that mosy of our CHARGErs have problems associated with with getting off the feeding tube, eating orally and maintaining the weight. has been eating orally for about 6 years, she has been off and on the tube during this time and is currently off. My problem is the obsessing and compulsing over food, she is constantly signing that she is hungary, even when she just ate a bowl of oatmeal, applesauce and yogurt. She will sneak into the kitchen and get something out and sit there to eat it, but it's not 1, she lines them up in 4's. is also always asking for a drink, yet she is just beginning thickened liquids orally and prefers it through her tube. I notice that if I give her water right before she eats she is able to digest the food better and doesn't have much difficulty with swallowing. All of her foods are blended, with a calorie enhancer. She is 61lbs.Any insights on this behavior? I would like to put a baby gate up for the kitchen to limit her access, but legally, I am not allowed. I put the cases of Ensure pudding up high and she climbs on whatever to get at them. The dietician wants her on an eating schedule of 3 meals a day, I don't think that will ever happen as I am thinking smaller meals more frequently would be better. When she is with her parent's she does what she wants when she wants, so anything I do try ends up in an automatic regression. Also, I would be interested in the e-stim therapy by Marcy, as Everett is about 2 hours North of us. , friend of 23 CHARGE
Guest guest
Hello, I can't help but wonder if she might be also telling you she is > still hungry. She is eating constantly! Her Ensure pudding come in the 4 packs and she helps herself to as many as she can fit in her arms. I will give her a bowl of mashed potatoes, mixed with green beans, she will finish that and think that she needs to finish off the pan. > > I guess it would mean might benefit from 6 glasses of > water per day. > recieves 1200ml of water a day. Guest guest
can she eat proteins? eating all carbohydrates at a meal will not fill her up/stay with her as not nutritious. just a thought -- Re: obsessing and compulsing over food Hello, I can't help but wonder if she might be also telling you she is > still hungry. The Ensure pudding provides quite a bit of protein, but I think that a prescription of 12 a day is a bit excessive.
Guest guest
There have been many times when , too, has eaten and eaten and eaten. There have been others when she hasn't eaten until 5:00 in the afternoon. I've never understood this. Martha

He watches Emeril, runs to the computer to the Food Channel site, prints out the recipes and hands them to me! Yikes! Guest guest
Barbra, TOOOOO amazing and cool. :-) Maybe my oldest daughter who is a chef, and and Kendra could open up a restaurant!! Of course a percentage of the foods would need to come from the Schwarzbein Connection cookbook. :-) Re: Re: obsessing and compulsing over food , I know what you mean, my son ate basically nothing but mac/cheese for 4 years! ... ....but now he is a total gourmet,. eats everything, makes his own fresh sushi, pork tenderloin with apricot chutney etc!
