Guest guest
Hi, New to this forum and confused. My daughter (2.7years) has a langauge delay (receptive & expressive - no words at all). We are in the UK and she is having weekly sessions with SLT and been seen by a peadiatrician. No diagnosis from them " seems like a pure langauge delay " - although the Speech Therapist says she has a very short attention span. Both seem reluctant to try new approaches (I am currently considering EFA supplements), or to indicate any other diagnosis. But when I read on the Cherab website about soft signs for hypotonia - feels heavy compared to other children of the same weight, cherubic, tires more easily - it sounds exactly like Cait. However there are little or no signs of apraxia (except that she can't blow). There seems to very little information about hypontonia around. Does anyone know if hypotonia can affect speech without apraxia being present? But this doesn't fit in with her delayed receptive abilities... Would also appreciate any thoughts on EFA supplements - I am sceptical but having read many of the posts here & info on the Cherab website, I think I've probably got nothing to lose. Sorry to go on - any advice greatly appreciated !!
