show, and we could all watch :)

Hey, I married my boyfriend's best friend. LOL Needless to say they aren't

best friends anymore. My husband and I use to double date all the time but we

weren't together....LOL

Anyway, glad your aboard.....

Hi SAndy nice to meet you. I live in San Diego

California. I just got remarried (now here's a weird

story for you)to my first husband two years ago. We we

married the first time in 1970 and he went to Viet Nam

and well we parted friends. But almost thrity years

later here we are. My friends told me I should've

contacted Oprah or something but not my thing. Up till

then I was a single parent for almost 10 years. I've

got two great kids, a son thats 26 living in Idaho and

a daughter thats 19. She is trying to get scholarships

to go to Vanguard University in September. She wants

to become a youth minister. I truly feel that is her

calling also.

Are you getting slammed by all that bad weather out

there? I was talking to a friend in South Carolina

today and he hasn't gone to work for two days because

of the weather. How about you? How are you doing?

Thanks for the welcome!

Hi Sandy, Thank you for the welcome! I am enjoying the e-mails and knowing

that there are people out there having much more serious flare up than I at

this time. So far, I am just having a lot of nausea from the meds I'm trying

to take. Look forward to hearing from you again. Love Lucy in NC

Hi Sandy,

Thanks for the welcome. I, too, know some people with Fibromyalgia who are

seeing progress with the antibiotics. It is a slow process, but it is in

the right direction. I'm glad to see that the treatment is finally gaining

acceptance among the medical community.

I take 200mg of Minocin on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Then I take 500mg

of Zithromax on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Kind of a wierd pattern, but it

works! In the early days of my illness I was given lots of rounds of

penicillan type antibiotics to clear up repeat UTIs. From what I have read,

the penicillans don't work against the mycoplasma. The tetracyclines like

Minocin and Erythromaycin get rid of mycoplasmas....again, its a slow

process. Maybe that's why doctors have dismissed it....they didn't give it

a long enough time. Some doctors are at least willing to combine the

methotrexate and the prednisone with the antibiotics. At least it's a

start.

take care,

Connie

--------------------------------------------------------------------------->

Dear Marie,

Hey! My name is Henry on, I'm 37, and I'm one of the new members

here. Although I've had chronic Pancreatitis for eight years, and have been

blessed with great doctors here in ton at The Medical University of

South Carolina, and a super support group named, " Pancreatitis Partners, " my

friends in the group have been telling me for several years to get online,

and I would greatly benefit, and enjoy the wealth of information, and

support given freely, and generously, by nice folks like you, and Karyn

! How long have you been suffering with this? Have you been online

in this group a long time, and how long has Karyn's wonderful group been

around? What's your life been like with this awful disease? Have you had a

lot of ERCPs, sugery, and the like? I guess you've had to be in the hospital

for long periods of time? What works best for you for dealing with the

symptoms? Like I've heard time and again, we may have the same disease, but

everybody is an individual, and people do tend to have a variety of

different medical treatments that work differently from one to another.

I was diagnosed with Chronic Pancreatitis in 1992, Mine was a result of

pancreas divism. I have no history of alcohol abuse, and was overall a

healthy person prior to the diagnosis. It just hit me out of the blue. For

me the main problem with it from a medical viewpoint is no. 1 the severe

pain, I know I don't have to tell you what this is like, but I'm just

relating my story for you, so I can get to know you, and other folks here.

I don't like being dependent on narcotic medicine, or any medicine, but

fortunately, haven't developed an addiction. My pain management psychologist

says that there is a difference between dependence, and addiction, and I'm

greatful for that. 2nd. is the digestive aspects, in my case, nausea,

vomiting, and often when my system isn't shut down, the diarrhea. I've been

on TPN feeding in the past for two years, and just had to start again this

month back on it because of losing too much weight, and not absorbing enough

vitamins, and nutrients. I think this sets me up for further illness,

because then I'm in a weaker condition, and can't fight off illness as well.

I was diagnosed with insulin dependent diabetes in 1997.

I hope that as I interact here with all of the great people online, I

will start hearing and sharing with others out there in cyberspace. Please

send me an e-mail when you feel like it, and have the time. I really do want

to participate, and mabe after people start getting familiar with seeing me

here, they will write. I guess it takes a while for the ball to get rolling

with a new member on a site. like I said, the internet is all new to me, and

I'm trying to learn the ropes. I've already seen by reading through the

various e-mails posted here that this is a nice, safe, friendly support

group. I like the way that people share, and help each other out with their

encouraging words, and concern for each other. The internet really is a

great tool for bringing people together in a spirit of care, and sharing

with a devastating, and life changing disease like pancreatitis is. Thank

you again for the kind welcome, and I really do look forward to hearing from

you and many other folks here! Sorry so long, but just starting out!

Sincerely & Greatfully,

Henry on
