I had a combination of HDR brachytherapy and external beam radiation. One year later, the rad onc himself did a proctoscopy to examine the walls of the rectum. A couple years after that I had an ordinary colonoscopy. Nobody said anything about any dangers and in fact, as far as I could tell, nothing went wrong.
