I WILL say this time I'm gonna ask for compazine or zofran before I have the c-section.. I'm tired of getting ill on the table :0) You may want to tell them in case of a problem that they'll need to do an ng tube LOOKING at where they're going! I asked my WLS (and found an OB who has other WLS patients) surgeon if there was anything special I needed and he said no! *~Joy~* Lap RNY @ 491lbs 2/26/01 down 205lbs as of 12/11/01 Mommy to: 1-9-99 & Saralyn 12-15-

I had to do the recovery thing first.. now that I have a new OB I'm gonna ask if all the cleaning up can wait until after I get the first few mins with my new baby! The old OB is a jerk and won't even release my medical files! *~Joy~* Lap RNY @ 491lbs 2/26/01 down 205lbs as of 12/11/01 Mommy to: 1-9-99 & Saralyn 12-15-

Guest guest
Hi Lyssa, I've never heard of a C-S requiring a ng ... also, the procedure is for your uterus not your stomach. I had asked when I first found out I was prego if I would require a C-S since I had an abdominoplasty and my OB laughed and said, " Only if you're the first woman in medical history that had her uterus tightened w/ the tummy tuck " . I was naive I guess but I'm always one to ask questions ....regardless if they sound silly or not! O Probably a silly question but ... Guest guest
Hi Lyssa, I have had a couple of procedures post op (mainly for kidney stones that wouldn't pass) but they needed to know for purposes of prescribing meds and also if you are admitted I usually ask for a diabetic diet because the regular diet is just ridiculous with the amounts of sugar they give you. Other than that I haven't had any problem with any tubes or general anesthesia etc... I actually had an NG tube placed a few days post op because of some complications with not eliminating gas and my pouch getting " too full " this was not pleasant but I know it can be done. Hope this helps! ~Ann RNY-lap 09-00 Preop Weight 265+ Current Weight (at 41 weeks preggy) 142 <--think it might be lower now Due Date WAS 01-10-02 --- they pushed it up to 01-16-02 First baby - it's going to be a girl Age - 30 > Ok I was just wondering about this last night during another insomnia > filled evening > If I go into labour and for some reason it turns into a c-section is > there anything the surgeon needs to know about the gastric bypass?? > or ng tubes or anything in terms of the fact I had rny? > Lyssa > > > __________________________________________________ >

Guest guest
Lyssa, I asked them the very same thing when I went in, because I had thought (correctly) that I might end up having to have a C. He said he'd make a note of it, but that it would be extremely unusual to have to intubate me during a C, unless there was some dire emergency and I went into arrest or something. I didn't, but I warned the anesthesia chick anyway when the time came, and it was no big deal. Plus, my dh was there with me and if something had happened, he'd've warned them too. K " Lyssa... Guest guest
Lyssa i am Pam and i had a c-section with all of my kids two before my surgery and the third and i will with my forth coming march 18th. and i was treated the same way with all of them.the c-section has nothing to do with your stomach.but you may want to tell them about your eating habits so they can make sure you have a proper diet you can eat. i hope this helps.
