Guest guest
I know Dr. Graham recommended that the inner ear vestibular anatomy be looked into with a temporal bone CT scan, as many children with CHARGE have missing or malformed vestibular anatomy. Looking also at the optic nerve may be useful for specific approaches down the road if there is a shortening or pieces missing; looking at the corpus collosum (brain structure) useful for language approaches and lack of initiating language (thinning found sometimes in CHARGE), the frontal lobe area (initiation, self-regulation) useful as some report malformations; some of the cranial bone structure a little different in CHARGE which may or may not impact upon the cranial nerves; and of course if your considering any CI implants they can trace the path of the facial nerve, auditory nerve, etc. which is often twisted or not in place. Looking at the cranial nerves could explain feeding issues. They could also look for any signs of dandy walker type cycts, but in brain tissue which only a very few parents have reported. Other then that, their curiosity will be satisfied. Ann Gloyn, Specialist Teacher Facial palsy Hi everyone. Whitney's ENT has suggested having an MRI for the facial palsy. I'm just wondering if anyone else had had this done, and what what found. I'm just wondering what good this will do. Any input is welcome.
