Guest guest
Hi, this is Kathy C. I guess I've been hiding out- my husband hooked us up with your group right before Christmas- almost the same day I received my diagnosis (sp?)- see, I don't even want to think of anything medical ! I'm still in denial- but this request for ancestry hit home. I was born in northeastern PA- have German ancestry (I'm 6th generation in US) on my mom's side- Dad unk. I've lived most my life in upstate (clarification is necessary) NY and moved to northern VA 1 1/2 yrs ago. Married 5 mths ago (w/3 stepkids, girls 13-19) and diagnosed w/RP 1 1/2 mths ago. Ken-my wonderful hubby has been after me to go beyond my HMO- but I've been uncomfortable asking for what I don't know. I see information regarding the establishment of a baseline- and I appreciate all the infor. I've been in the medical field somewhat and expect doctors to look at me weird- thanks for sharing so much, I guess this is my big step for the day- now I'll try to do some work! Again, thanks, I'm here and appreciate you all so much- I'll be back- I have a lot of questions. demographics/places lived, been to From: Ronniegrl@... , along with birth state being included, how about areas that we have lived. I for one have traveled all over the world, well almost. Also, lived in different states as well as Europe. I DO NOT have German ancestry, but I did live in Germany for over 2 years back in the 1960's. I was born in Pennsylvania and lived in several different states. Have in most recent years (past 6 years or so) traveled to A LOT of European Countries many different times. In the last couple of years have been in the air almost 300,000 miles or so. Have not looked recently. Have been to the orient, but only Thailand stopping in Taiwan and forgot and drank the water there. The furthest south I have been has been Mexico. But, with so many different countries and inter state areas that many of us have lived, maybe that should be included, too. What I mean is I have been and lived more places than simply my birthplace. I am a second generation American and I have some confusion about my ancestry. I think I am Croatian, maybe, or Slovak. My mother always gets me confused when I ask, yes, all of my many years, because all she ever wanted to be was an American. Which she is of course having been born here. However, my ancestry comes from that area of the World. I think my mother's mother was born in Austria or her ancestry came from there. Anyway, I think it might be more important where we have lived and spent any time. I was once told that a lot of the people with German ancestry in MN (my birth state - my ancestors were Prussian and German-Bohemian), WI, IA, IL and the Dakotas have more thyroid disease than the general population of US. Wondering it that is also true of RP. >> ---------------------------
