,

1st, congrats on your appointment! You've had quite a battle and Yay

to you for sticking with it!!

I am a certified vet tech.. and thankfully, we aren't quite put to

sleep in the same way as animals.. When they do that to animals, it's

a way way overdose of aneasthesia..

I would definately talk to your doc about your fear though.. I met

with my Aneasthesiologist 3 weeks before my surgery and got to know

him and be really confident in his abilities..

My doc required an Atkins style diet 2 weeks before the surgery, and

a clear liquid diet 2 days before the surgery.. it wasn't so bad

really!

Best of luck to you! Keep us updated on your progress!

Hello, I am also pre op and what a pain in the neck this has been. I keep

pushing though, ever feel like you have to have ALL the comorbidities? I have

been followed by my PCP for over a year changing and increasing my synthroid (i

have hypothyroid) and told to follow a low carb low sugar plan (not atkins) for

decreasing levels of cholesterol and glucose, which means I have been weighed

and supervised regularly. I lost 3# and gained3.5# in that time, I was denied

for lack of evidence of 6 mos physician supervised weight loss. What the heck

is that? I will continue to push until I get a date.

Best of luck to you

Howdy all

I have read many of your posts and no one seems down, and very few in

doubt. That is right were I need to be. I have no doubts, been on

this road for almost 5 years (Why oh why did I ever leave

Anniston!!!!!). Up here, Medicare spells waiting list even to SEE

the doctor. My first appointment will be Monday. I have most of the

required testing done. My co-morbidities score card is notched to

where it looks like swiss cheese. Has anyone else gone through this

hell trying to get this done?

Anyway, my questions is not about afterward, though I know I will

have tons of questions then, but got two for now. Do most surgeons

require a liquid diet before surgery? And if so, how long? Plus, as

a ex-dog breeder, I have had to put dogs " to sleep " . I have never

had anesthesia, and the idea of being put " to sleep " ...(shutter).

Got any insight?

Foolish but that's me
