Guest guest
Hey monica, It's me Carla from the ossg central Florida group you are on. I am pregnant too, but you probably knew that fromt he other group. Congratulations, that is too cool. I am happy for you and " your man " . Take care and best wishes. Carla New to the group Hello all. I took a HPT the other day and WHAMMO, I'm preggo. We've been sorta trying (grin). I haven't confirmed with my doctor yet. That is my next step. But I went ahead and joind this list because quite frankly when I put in 'ossg' and 'pregnancy' in the search, I didn't expect to find anything. The number of OSSG lists has quadruples since I first started looking (and joined ) ossg lists a year ago. I had my surgery in Melbourne, FL with Dr. Tenewitz over a year ago. Because of the distance and right now I cannot drive (long story ending in a rt leg bk amputation) right now, I havent consulted him. I was hoping to gain some insite on what to look forward to as an wls person being preggo. My name is . I am 32yrs old and this will be my first child ever. woohoo. I think partially because *I* was the one pushing back the wedding from this year (2002) to next year. But now this changes things. lol... not that I'm afraid of marriage.. but I wanted to get some financial stuff straight with my self first. Carla do u know if you are having a boy or girl yet? I can't wait until Monday. I am going to try and call the doctor's office again. My doc is a GP whom I like a LOT. I hope he doesnt refer to a OB. If my grandfather were still practicing, I'd have him deliver my baby. He delivered my cousin.

Guest guest
Welcome to the group Anne Marie. We have all found great comfort pre and post op from this site. It is a really great source of information and sometimes humour. It is also a wonderful way to follow the progress of the procedure on a world wide scale. Although I can't answer your question about osteomyelitis I can sympathize with your pain. I am 8 weeks post op and feeling great. Everyday gets better. Interesting thing happened today. I woke up with a tooth bothering me. You know the feeling where you want to clamp down on it because somehow the enforced ouch makes it feel better. I laughed because that is how I constantly felt with my hip. Always a throbing ache, awake and asleep. I am grateful that I only have sensitive teeth now. Wish you all the best and a speedy recovery. Guest guest
Maureen, When I spent a lot of time in hospital a year ago and then in rehab, I remember what kind of reaction I got from the health care professionals who REALLY knew about our illness. It's the " poor thing " kind of treatment, but I really feel we deserve a little TLC. I'm not much in for talking about my own case (try to shut me up later), but we are talking about you. For pain, and there are many different kinds: For my trigeminal and other kinds of neuralgia (the burning pain and the ice-pick-behind-the-eyes) I take Neutontin and Klonipin. They were developed for seizures, but are used for pain very widely now (not so when I started taking them 7 years ago, but I'm so glad that they're more prescribed now). I take Vioxx -- for the osteoarthritis I have after being on prednisone (which they gave me partially for my pain). I also have a Duragesic 100 mcg patch which I change every three days. It works like a smoking patch and delivers fentenyl -- an opiate. The last two pills I take aren't directly for pain but they help me cope. First, I am on Zyprexa for depression/anxiety/psychosis. Sometimes I can get very suicidal just because I have this damn illness. But I'm feeling better. The last pill is Ambien -- a great sleeping pill that helps you sleep even through terrible pain and leaves you without hangover. I also take Advair and Nasonex for my respiratory health, and actonel to try to reverse the damage being on 60 mg of pred. daily for over a year. Whew! I'm not sure that's it. OOPS!!!!! one more. I have to take prevacid for acid reflux. The prednisone also ripped up my stomache and everything on the way. Soooooooo. As you can see there's a lot available. But TELL YOUR DOC. You are not being any kind of hero if you just " tough it out. " The ones who suffer most are the ones around you all the time that you are gritting your teeth while totally distracted! Take care, REnee maureen teague wrote: >Hello my name is Maureen and I'm new to the group.I >just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. Guest guest
Sharon, we are practically identical twins! I also had LAP RNY on July 17. I started this journey at 324 and was down to 306.5 the morning of surgery. Today, I am at 258.5. See? Twins, huh? As far as the digest goes, if you click the Edit My Membership link in the upper right of the screen, you will find an area to switch to the regular email option. Sometimes it takes a few days for the changes to update, so don't think you did something wrong if it doesn't swich over right away. I'm so glad I saw your post! So, tell me...how tall are you? I'm right around 5'3 " , I think. Oh, how I wish I were taller! I hate it when I go to the store by myself and I have to ask for help to reach things on the top shelves! But you know, when I go with my husband, who is about 6'1 " , short women borrow him all the time! See ya! - in CA LAP RNY 07-17-03 324/258.5/130? > HI. My name is Sharon. Guest guest
, Someone may have already mentioned this (I've been away and am behind in reading email), but at Richmond they do not put the catheter in until you are unconscious. So don't worry...you won't feel a thing :-) M. 9/2/03 Dr. Fisher 320/260 I think I might be able to handle the pain, but the one thing I am not looking forward is the cathader, but in the long run I know it is all worth it. Guest guest
Hi Aziza, I was one who quit on the surgery at first (and second) and then with 's tremendous help was able to see that surgery was really what I wanted. I am one of those people that tells just about everybody who listens about my surgery. Before and after the fact. I have gotten some bad reactions but, I always put it down to them having a problem, not me. I am very glad that I went ahead and had the surgery. Getting ready for surgery I exercised all the time and lost 75 lbs. I had lost 80 and then when I decided against surgery the weight started to come back. I put on 20 of the lost and then had to try and get it off. Not because the surgeon said I needed to but, because I wanted to be as close as possible to where I had been. I came within five pounds of that. Weight was always pretty easy to get off but, to keep it off was the real war. Try not to let others discourage you from your path if you believe you are on the right one. It is yours not theirs to walk. They don't have to walk in your oversized body that tires out quickly or worry about diabetes or aching joints. The only one with you on your path is God. He will see you through.
