Guest guest
Vickie, That is wonderful news! I am glad that you can relax somewhat now. Merry Shaw Amnio results E-mail has been down for 4 days so sorry for the delay on my amnio results. We found out Friday night that everything is okay so far with the baby. All chromosomes are there and paired up with no extra and none missing! We are relieved. Guess this was a case of another " false positive " with the Triple-Screen Test. Guest guest
Kris - I find this hilarious because with my first kiddo they told me over and over it was a girl. I had 2 showers, 1 at work and 1 from family. Each one's theme was " Pretty in Pink " . I had pink ruffly lace everywhere and when I was in my little nesting mode I washed absolutely everything and had it put away and ready for the baby. I ended up having to have a c-section after laboring for a while and they announced " Its a big baby boy " . I kept thinking man, these must be some powerful drugs they gave me because they just said boy.... Then I looked at my hubby and he was beaming like he had just won the Texas state Lotto. I kept thinking there is NO way. By the time I got to my room I was in tears and my dad said " honey but he's beautiful " . I simply wailed " I have NOTHING to bring him home in!!!! " Grandpa to the rescue with every little boy outfit he could get his hands on in short notice. :-) I got to use the pink stuff on the next one who was a girl. Due to all of the above my hubby refuses to believe any of our ultrasound results with this new pending arrival. He is in gender denial however I will have some blue on reserve right behind my pink ruffly lace!! *grin* Merry Shaw 7/5/02 c-section date Re: Amnio results Debbie Burt wrote: >Congrats Vickie. I am prone to " stressing " over stuff, and I knew that the AFP was notorious for false positives, so Rick & I discussed it and decided not to have it. I *did* want an ultrasound, because I really wanted to know the sex if I could, so we had an u/s at 27 weeks. The OB (who did the u/s himself... and who was a terrific person) said, " Looks like a girl to me. See here... " and pointed the little cursor at an area. I shrugged and said " Okay. " When I went to the hospital, I brought along a beautiful pink frilly outfit that I had bought especially to bring little na home in, and at home I had all the lovely pink lacy things washed in Dreft and folded and ready, with all the new tags removed. We already had two girls (by adoption) and had plenty of girl clothes, so it was a total no-brainer. Imagine my shock when they announced, " It's a boy! " I was confused, and thought perhaps they knew I had been wishing for a boy in the beginning, so I said, " You're LYING. " Everyone in the room got rather quiet, and then the anesthesiologist (who was a wiry little chick with an attitude) piped up, " Well... for a girl, he's awful well hung. " We all collapsed in peals of laughter. Then we named him Isaac, which means " laughter " . It seemed appropriate. Kris

Guest guest
That is exactly what I am deathly afraid of!!! I am having a hard time picking out a generic theme for the room. I had wanted hello kitty for a girl cuz I am the " crazy cat lady " . Now I hesitate after hearing many stories like Merry's! Guest guest
Disoriented......yep a good word to describe it. It was hard switching to a boys name after I was supposed to have a " le " and then ended up with a " " . I wouldn't trade him for the world though - he is mom's special guy! Guest guest
*laughing* That's why we went precious moments with the little boy and the little girl facing each other. DH still thinks this could be a boy and the doc says it's a girl. I am covering ALL of my bases! Guest guest
We love Hello Kitty (and most other Sanrio and Korean anime characters too) here in this house... my two daughters want me to re-do their room in Hello Kitty. I was also thinking of doing Isaac's room in a Pochacco theme. : ) And as for doing your nursery, especially if it's heavily gender-specific, I'd be absolutely sure you won't have to re-do it as soon as you get home from the hospital. If the dr can definitely see testicles, it IS a boy..... If they only see a penis, it could be the umbilical cord and it is a girl. Now, not sure the other way around.....
