Guest guest
Congrats!!!! " I'm very curious about the success rate of losing the baby weight after surgery. Is it hard, is it not so hard?? " YOu may not gain much, many of us don't and bounce back quickly. Just don't use preg as an excuse to overeat. " Also, I have a lot of excess skin around my midsection. When I'm 5-9 months' pregnant, am I going to look like a whale again or will people be able to see that I'm actually pregnant? " Probably see a big baby in your middle. " Do you double up on iron? Guest guest
I conceived when I was 2 yrs post op. So I find I'm having a very " normal " pregnancy all around including weight gain. So far 22 lbs at 34 weeks. I hope to lose it quickly though. Time will tell I guess. I just take prenatals. I felt I just looked fat the first few months but now at the end I most definitely look pregnant and I had a little hanging pouch of skin before I conceived. I'm not looking forward to seeing it again aftewards lol but maybe it will motivate me to lose more weight and perhaps go for the insurance again to see if they'll pay for a tt. Guest guest
Hi Shanti! We are about in the same boat! I had a RNY on 3/9/00 and I just found I I'm pregnant on Dec 21st! I had my first dr. appt last Friday and he said just keep eating what I eat and taking my prenatals and everything should turn out wonderful. He is going to keep an eye on my weight gain though, I worked too hard to lose my weight and I WILL NOT get fat again. I'm only gaining what I have to. Congrats! Just heard the news! Hi everyone! I'm new to the list, so first let me introduce myself. My name is Shanti (shawntay) and I'm 28. I had RNY on April 24, 2000 and I have gone from 311 pounds to 165 pounds. I just discovered a few days after Christmas that I'm pregnant! Because of the holidays I have been unable to get in touch with my bariatric doctor or my family doctor. I have just some general questions. I'm very curious about the success rate of losing the baby weight after surgery. Is it hard, is it not so hard?? Also, I have a lot of excess skin around my midsection. When I'm 5-9 months' pregnant, am I going to look like a whale again or will people be able to see that I'm actually pregnant? Do you double up on iron? Do you increase protein? Is there anything you think I should know being a WLS patient and being pregnant? I appreciate your comments. Thanks in advance! Shanti, I had surgery in August of 2000 and got down to 170. I am 7 months pregnant and have gained 23 lbs so far and you really cant see it except for in the middle. I was 270 lbs when I had my first son and I just looked like a big fatty, but this time I do actually look preg. The skin seems to be okay. I just have a little flabby at the bottom of my belly, but I have the basketball thing going, which is nice. It's nice to feel pregnant instead of just big.
