Guest guest
Ok May, details..LOL I can't figure how you did your tour of our homes..I wanna d it too. I am just not techie enough to figure it out.......HELP Love and Prayers, Peggy ipf 6/04 Florida"Worry looks around, Sorry looks back, Faith looks up." hi all, hope you have all had a nice xmas day and boxing day is going smooth.peggy,i was reading about your cake that sank in the middle. i am not a baker but years ago myself my sister and a friend were making lots of cakes etc for bake sale in our daughter's dance class. we were trying to make puff candy which was a disaster that actually burned the plastic cake thing and we made a ordinary plain wee sponge cake in the microwave with no instructions. we left it in too long and the middle went hard. we were drinking some wine and giggling all night and decided to cut a hole out the middle and make it into a ring. then we decided to ice it and put a little bit of food colouring in the icing. we accidentally put too much red in and it came out a shocking barbie pink. we put it into the bake sale and it was sold first......we do not believe it tasted nice.gwynnethanks for your lovely comments earlier about international friends. i love mine too and i can't wait to hear you have had your call.... when jane posted about laura's gated community i decided to visit it and googled the website. my husband came in and said what are you looking at. i said a gated community with a pool in nashville (i had to explain what a gated community was).... after jim was talking about alaska and his town i googled it and stumbled across real estate so i had a look at what was for sale. getting into this grove, i had a look at chicago nd plano. i didn't really know what i was looking for since i didn't know what district leanne lives in. i know what peggy's porch is like and mary beth's house new house looked like before the walls went up as well as kerry's fabulous new additions. i've really enjoyed my wee on-line visits to some of you. in this vein, i've posted a picture of my new driveway andy made a couple of months ago. i hope you all enjoy it - you will see what i mean if you look at it. we don't want to spend too much money in this wee house as we dont expect to be here long so we just made a path and inhindsight we should have taken the hedge away further along the way. (we shall correct this path next year but in the meantime it makes me smile). if you want a taste of my community go to remax, cardonald, scotland.joycei really hope that things have been better for you. i am pleased to report that i used my new concentrator the night before xmas eve and xmas eve whilst preparing for my coming dinner for ten. i now know what you all mean about sore ears. previously i had just used it for exercise. i still got dog tired but i wouldn't have been able to do all that i did without it. i even used it on christmas day before i put my gas oven on. i have moved it to a central place so probably will now use it when i'm moving about the house.i have been to see peter pan today at the theatre my daughter works in. (citizens theatre glasgow if you want tovisit online). it was great. she was stage managing the whole thing and as they had flying people i think its the busiest show she's worked on. she didn't have too much alcohol on xmas day because she had two shows today. all the children were totally transfixed. there were two little girls in front of us and one was in the moment thinking the show was real and her older cousin was trying hard to be umimpressed. i love it when you are at a show and the children look for the things that aren't there expecting to see them. i reminded andy that rosie was very proud of this show and she was very happy when i told her it was 'fabulous'. (i've been watching a lot of the barefoot contessa and this is my new favourite word). this group is fabulous.lovemayuip glasgow 06.06bonnie scotland> > >> > > happy holidays> > >> > > Pink Joyce IPF 3/06 Pennslvania> > >> > >> > > Never miss a thing. Guest guest
peggy sorry - i know what your house and porch is like from your photos you posted. same with kerry and mary beth. the others i just went to the google toolbar and typed in the towns. i was surprised when i typed in jim's town in alaska that remax came up. remax is a worldwide franchise real estate company and they have been selling in my area over the last while. so if you type in remax cardonald scotland it should come up in what they search with the right site. once you enter that by double clicking on it over to the right hand side is a line saying - view our properties. if you click on that it will show you the houses for sale in my area. it gives you a feel for the area and there are a few houses like mine in it. i posted a new photo of my new garden path as well tonight in my photo session. annother way is to type in real estate and the town or city. when i typed in chicago real estate and entered some sites i didn't know what area leanne lived in. jane had mentioned the name of laura's community so i typed in that name and the site came up. i wasn't looking at laura's flat but other flats i guessed where like hers. it should the floor plan etc. hope that helps. may > > > > > > > > happy holidays > > > > > > > > Pink Joyce IPF 3/06 Pennslvania > > > > > > > > > > > > Never miss a thing. Guest guest
i lost my broadbent connection there. the other way to look at areas is if you know what the address is, is by google earth but you need to download that on your hard drive and it takes ages and uses up loads of space. when you have that you can put in the address and it takes you to an overview of the street. my brother from australia loaded that on my machine when he was here last year. i can't be bothered with that. if you just put the town or area name in the google search bar sometimes sites come up that showcase the town. these may be made by local council or community groups. i also like to read newspapers from other areas. i loved reading the california press when victoria beckham moved to the states. may > > > > > > > > happy holidays > > > > > > > > Pink Joyce IPF 3/06 Pennslvania > > > > > > > > > > > > Never miss a thing. Guest guest
Hey May, you've given me a really good idea with your groovy shot of your new path..I'd love to 'visit' everyone's houses..where do you all sit to do your postings? From Peggy's Christmas Tree photo I can see similarities in our houses (I have Fench Doors with small panes of glass just like yours & some rooms have picture rails some way up the walls as well!) Most of us spend heaps of time in our kitchens...I'll get to work! Where is your own personal fave spot in your houses?????? Love to see whatever anyone wants to share! Cheers, >> May> > Love your new walk. Haven't had a chance to check out your neighborhood, YET. I will though. Guest guest
gina the other photo i posted of me sticking out my tongue is my favourite spot. this is my chair and woe betide anyone who sits on it. it faces the fire (its a windy winter here) and i have a small table next to me with my laptop on it. i usually pull the laptop onto my lap. the phone is within stretching distance, the television to the right of the fire and i have a big picture window to see people passing. i've just moved the concentrator to the hall and i think i will use it more there. i moved last year to this small two bedroomed house to get away from stairs and to reduce my mortgage as i gave up work. i only have a very small mortgage now. my mum is across the road. so near yet so far as i always cross the road too fast. i have an aunt in the street too. in fact this is the street i was raised in so i know most people. andy's wee squiggly path stopped me having to open two gates to get to my door. we should have put monoblock into the path or two slabs but andy decided to do this. we will fix it next spring but its so funny and it cheers everyone up. for me i can walk up to my door faster. that is my wee yellow car in the photo that gives me my freedom. andy took the hedge away and made the driveway and path for very little money one weekend. i dont know if you can see it in the pictures but i have a tartan carpet. green tartan carpet in the hall and living room. the people in this house before me put it down about 20 yrs ago. it was very expensive then. i absolutely hated it and planned to change it - now we will wait until the worse of the winter is over and will put laminate in the hall but get a new carpet for the living room. our last house was all laminate and i loved it but andy has enjoyed lying around on a carpet again. one of my sisters wants the carpet. no-one has tartan carpets in scotland. you only see them in hotels for the tourists. may uip 06.06 glasgow > > > > May > > > > Love your new walk.
