Guest guest
I have " delayed pressure urticaria " and have been told that just as mysteriously as it appeared.....it will disappear without a trace of ever even existing. Everyday that goes by with pain and swelling, that hope surely diminishes. But the wonder always remains. I've yet to hear of a specific case of this occuring and hope that one day I will be able to testify to this miraculous behavior as being true. I have also been informed that I will most likely suffer anywhere from 10-30 years before seeing any type of disappearance. Hope this begins to be an answer/positive response to your question. Guest guest
Hi All: I am currently in remission from a 23 year battle with delayed pressure hives and angioedema. As mysteriously as they appeared they disappeared 5 years ago. I have been free of them since then except for a week this past March while I was battling a severe strep throat. I had hives everywhere that week and a fat lip also. I was so afraid they were resurfacing but after that one week they disappeared again. I continue to read all of your messages because my greatest fear is that one of my children (son 12 and daughter 8) will get this and I want to be better prepared than I was when I had it. While I was going through it I was the only person I knew who had this and it was very hard going through it all alone. You all are very fortunate to have each other. Guest guest
My hives disappear for years at a time, the longest " remission " being a 5 year stretch. I've had them 3 times in the last ten years, lasting from 6 months to 2 years. The first time I had them I had a hard time believing that they would just go away, but they did! Guest guest
Well, I don't want to jinx myself, but for the past two weeks, I have not broken out at all. I used to take like 8 Benadryl a day and now, I am down to one, so there is hope. I also do not know what causes mine, but I am thankful that whatever it is, it is gone at least for the time being. Guest guest
The first time I had hives for 8 months and then not for 13 years, then I had them for a year and then not again for 7 years and now I've had them for 6 months so far and still hiving. Guest guest
Hi Vicki- I have had Delayed Pressure Urticaria/Angioedema for 5 years now and can entirely sympathize with your fear. I've sent a reply regarding that question but now I have one for you............Did it just go away/disappear as I've been told it would?? Or do you believe there was something to help it along it's way?? I'm really curious and thank God that you are done suffering from this terrible pain and frustration. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Guest guest
: In answer to your question, it just went away. I did nothing different, ate nothing different, changed nothing about my lifestyle. I don't believe the stress theory either, these past couple of years have been quite stressful for me and I've gotten through them with no hives. Guest guest
Thank you Vicki- I don't believe stress is the cause but as with many diseases and disorders.....stress amplifies the problem because nerves and blood pressure are involved. Appreciate response So happy for you
