Virus Alert

My sincere apologies for this this inconvenience..., but unfortunately a virus

has been passed on to me and my address book WAS infected. Since you are in my

address book, there is a good chance the virus is in your computer too. The

virus (called jdbgmgr.exe) is NOT detected by Norton or McAfee antivirus

systems. The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging your system. It

is seen automatically by messenger and by the address book, whether or not you

sent e-mail to your contacts.

Here's how to check for the virus and how to get rid of it.

1. Go to start, use the FIND or SEARCH option.

2. In the file folder option, type the name jdbgmgr.exe

3. Be sure to search your C: drive and all subfolders and any other drives that

you have.

4. Click " find now "

5. The virus has a Teddy Bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe -- DO NOT OPEN

IT!!!!

6. Go to Edit (on the menu bar) and choose " select all " to highlight the file

without opening it.

7. Now go to the File (on the menu bar) and select DELETE. It will go to the

recycle bin. Empty your recycle bin.

8. IF YOU FIND THE VIRUS,YOU MUST CONTACT ALL THE PEOPLE IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK,

SO THEY CAN ERADICATE IT IN THEIR OWN ADDRESS BOOK!!!!

To do this:

1. Open a new e-mail message.

2. Click the icon of the address book next to the " TO "

3. Hihglight every name (hold your shift key and arrow down) and add to

" BBC " (which means blind copy)

4. Copy this message and paste to e-mail.

,

That jdbgmgr.exe is an important Microsoft executable that MUST NOT be

deleted. This is a hoax that is sent to create trouble for those who

follow these instructions. The real culprit is the W32. sobig.f@mm worm.

It must have entered your system before your antivirus software was updated.

I sent the virus alert because I thought that PLSFRIENDS had been infected. I

don't have a masters degree in computer science like you do, I took it seriously

and felt I was doing the right thing.

You can refer to Maggie's e-mail - virus hoax - dated 8/21 to fix your problem

--- but since your an expert, you probably already knew how to fix it.

As far as your bill and calling me an idiot, you can stick it where the sun

don't shine!!!

I live at:

13 Westlawn Place

Palm Coast, Florida

Come on down and visit me! I'll make sure your welcomed properly!

Signed,

Henry

Geo, calm down.

The way I look at it, we are all responsible for our own behavior,

and if you deleted the files on your computer, you are responsible

for the damage done. You are the only one to blame if you did so

without checking out the source first.

I believe you can reinstall your windows program to correct the

problem.

Hi, FRIENDS,

In light of recent communications on virus alerts, I almost hate to

bring this to you. Please let bygones be bygones and take all

actions possible to protect yourself from this new attack.

ATTENTION!

There is a new virus out with the code name Work. If you receive

Work from your colleagues, your boss, via e-mail or anywhere

else, do not touch Work under any circumstances. This virus

wipes out your private life completely.

If you should come into contact with this virus, put on your coat,

walk out the door and take the day off and imbibe in adult

libations and diversions as much as possible and eventually you

will find that Work has been completely deleted from your brain.

Forward this warning immediately to at least 5 friends. Should

you realize that you do not have 5 friends, this means that this

virus already infects you and Work already controls your whole

life.

This virus is deadly. Please pay close attention to it and take

heed.
