Guest guest
Carey, I had my Lap RNY on 6/21/01 and I am now almost 17 weeks pregnant. So far so good. Mine also wasn't planned however we are very excited now. My only problem has been trying to get in adequate amounts of protein however with supplements I have been able to accomplish the task. This whole group has been great, so post away. Someone will surely have an answer. Merry Another pg newbie here.... I had Open RNY 7/18/01 and am now 10.5 weeks pg. This was CLEARLY not a planned pregnancy, but we'll deal with it. I have 2 stepkids and a 3.5-yo son at home, so this will be my 2nd and DSO's 4th child!!!! Anyway, I guess I need some info about how this works. Does anyone have stats on success or failures of pregnancies this soon after WLS?? Guest guest
We sound like we are in the same boat. We are about the same point in our preganancies. I also have 2 step kids and a 3.5 yr. old. I had my Open RNY 6/25/01 just shortly before yours. So, as I don't have a lot of advice yet just know you aren't alone. I wish you a happy pregnancy. I hope to see you on the board a lot. Crystal > I had Open RNY 7/18/01 and am now 10.5 weeks pg. This was CLEARLY not > a planned pregnancy, but we'll deal with it. Guest guest
I'm 31, 32 on Feb. 22nd. Went to the dr. today to hear the baby's heartbeat, he couldn't find it at first, so he did an ultrasound. We saw the baby, wiggling it's hands and feet! We saw the heart beating away. I'm going in for another ultrasound (full bladder) on Thursday to see if we can get a better picture to figure out the due date. We're pretty excited!! I took provera and it brought on a long awaited period on 1/19/02 (haven't had AF since 4/98 when I got pg with my son, then my daughter and then the depo shot). According to a few things online it said my fertile time was (according toa 28-30 day cycle being optimistic) was 1/31-2/5 and I did an OPK (ovulation predictor kit) which got a 2nd line that kept getting darker until yesterday when the lines matched showing ovulation within 24-36hrs. No guarantee but it meant that my system has the hormone. Today I took the last of the 5 tests and there was no 2nd line. So now this is all new to me and I'm assuming that either I did or did not " O " but that the LH hormone is now gone from my system. You have to take extra special care when you are pregnant. My dentist says because of the extra hormones your gums need special attention. It really sucks ... but they do feel so much better now. Guest guest
Hi Pam, et al. Thanks for responding, actually thank you to everyone who responded. I will be 40 in August. I will be 1 year post-op in July. I have 2 daughters from a very brief marriage they are 14 and 13, I have always wanted another child but the timing was always wrong. I have been in a commited relationship for the past 12 uyears. Funny, but I think that he is finally ready, and now I have cold feet. I also have three other children 13,11,9. I 'm sure that you may think 5 kids that should be enough but in truth I have always felt that someone was missing. I also suffered from huge back problems while I carried around my 324 pound body ( pre-op) I am a slow loser in my opinion, I think one of the reasons is that I have in the past lost over 100#'s by dieting, I was a huge yoyo dieter however those sins are all now in the past. I am healthy and pain free. I have lost 85 # " s so far and expect to be down about 40-50 more pounds by the end of summer. If anyone has any good reputable sites that have information in regards to having another child at 40 please forward the address to me. thank you allin advance.
