Guest guest
Way to go Kennedy!!!!!!!! Lynn Ohio Bragging Moment Hi all, I know I haven't been around much lately with all the craziness going on ( starting high school, in middle school, Kennedy starting kindergarten, me going back to work as a full time 1:1 aide in kindergarten and starting University on the side....I think I've lost my mind!) but I had to take a minute to share some happy news. Kennedy's entire class was assessed the other day on the Dolch sight words list (common words students should know by a certain grade by sight) http://www.gigglepotz.com/dolche.htm - if you are interested, and Miss Kennedy scored the highest in her class of 20! I was absolutely thrilled and I think she sure shocked them! It was a very proud day in the Weir house.
Guest guest
- That's awesome!! Aubrie's prereading skills amaze me too. It's wonderful when our kids do something so obviously exceptional like that. Others can't help but notice how smart and capable Kennedy is. I worry about others having low expectations for Aubrie because she is behind in so many other areas (fine motor, speech intelligibility). I mean, she's barely 35 lbs so she's still in the car seat- -- but she's starting to get the idea of reading far more than many of her peers! Give Aubrie a high five from us! I hope you are all enjoying this year of " firsts " . Guest guest
Thanks Michele, and I don't see Aubrie as being " that behind " at all!!! She has much more expressive speech (about what is happening, stories, talking about things) than Kennedy does and she amazed me in Ohio. I think she's doing just fine. Guest guest
Michele, Thanks for the resource. Looks like a great site. BTW, apparently Penina did some math work in class last week (she's fully integrated in Grade 2 in 100% early French immersion), and scribbled at the bottom (in French of course) " This math is too easy - could you please give me some more difficult work? " . She said that her teacher started to laugh, and promised to find some more challenging work for her. :-D Of course the other thing that happened at school this week was that she tripped over a ball and skinned both knees. Fortunately no serious consequences. She saw the ball coming but assumed it went somewhere else when it left her field of vision. This is what terrifies me.... :-( At least there will be an orientation and mobility specialist working with her a bit in the wintertime (i.e.. how to manage snow and ice). Regards, Anne, mom of Penina (CHARGE, 7) Michele Westmaas wrote: > I was just thinking -- have you been to the www.starfall.com site with > Kennedy yet? She'd love it!
