Lorraine,

Welcome to the group. We have a wide variety of personalities here and

some have done a lot of research on FMS. If you have any questions, please

feel free to let us know and I can almost bet you that someone will have the

answer. Or if you are having a bad day and just want to vent, that's

allowed here also.

Hi Diane,

Welcome to the list!! My name is Terri and I am in Wv.. I have been on the

list for a few months now and found that I am so grateful that i have found

it.. NOt only is it so informative but very supportive as well. I hope you

get your answers from your dr.. soon because the guessing game is what I

hated the most during my diagnosis of fibro.. Goodluck, hope all is well,

and I am glad you joined.

I'm new to the group too. I'm 57, live alone with two

big dogs and a small cat. I work from home as a

copywriter.

I have had FMS most of my life I guess but it was DXd

about three years ago. While I have a lot of flares

and still much pain from time to time, I've found that

daily exercise helps tremendously. I've also lost

close to 50 pounds in two years time and that has

helped.

Fatigue is a big problem and hurting myself weight

lifting is another. I pulled a muscle in my

back-shoulder area and it won't seem to heal. So I've

laid off the weights and hate that as it was helping

and it made me feel stronger.

SK -- Hi, I'm impressed with your wt. loss and exercise program and

have a question. How did you get going on your program? I work all

day and am on my feet about 50% of the time. By the time I get home,

I am so tired and hurt so bad that exercising is the LAST thing I

want to do. However, I KNOW that if I lost 75# that I'd fell a heck

of a lot better. The worst of my pain is in my feet and lower legs.

I use crutches to get up and going in the AM (and even to go potty at

night.)After I get going I can keep up as long as I don't stop too

long. The hour for lunch is a mixed blessing and curse -- I need to

rest but when I get up after lunch it takes me a few minutes to be

able to walk down the hall again. Give me something to motivate me,

please, if you can. Thanks, Pat

I have been told to wait 6 months out. Even though I was pregnant 2 weeks before

my surgery, I was still told that 6 months would be the least and 12 months

would be the most.

Good luck!

Hi ,

My surgeon also requires that we wait 18 months to get pregnant. Some

surgeons say 1 year. I have a check up with my surgeon next month and hope

he doesn't go through the roof because I got pregnant 15 1/2 months out of

WLS. It was not intentional, just poor judgment. I assumed that because

it took me a year to get pregnant the first time that I could get off the

pill 3 months before my 18 month check up and then get started right away.

You know how they tell you to get the pill out of your system for 3 months.

Anyway, I was most certain that I would be " safe " during that 3 month time

period and became pregnant during the first ovulation (before WLS my cycles

were 78-85 days). I don't regret that I am pregnant, just a little

disappointed that I am not at goal and that I wanted to be at a lower weight

before pregnancy. I am doing fine though. I would wait like your surgeon

advises just so you feel better about your decision. Do you have Dr.C as

your surgeon?

Hope this helps some.

First of all congratulations Rhonda!! & Rhonda, I am so happy

to see your posting. My surgeon asks us to wait 2yrs. after surgery

to get pregnant. I have been reading the posts here for months and

was becoming increasing depressed that I had to wait! I even had my

OB/GYN call my surgeon!! I guess that I was hoping that they would

give me the Ok at the 1 yr. mark!! but that did not happen (surgery

was 11/15 from size 32 to 20 went from 325lbs to 243) I still have a

long way to go!! but I am happy so far with my progress. My surgeon

really wants us to reach goal prior to becoming pregnant. I need to

drop another 73lbs. I am trying to increase my excerise and my

weight loss in the hope that they will give me the green light at 18

months. Wish me luck!! I just could not understand why my surgeon

wanted me to wait, when it seemed like everyone here got the Ok at

1yr. and some even sooner!! But I am glad to see that there are

other surgeons out there that are requireing the same, I was begining

to think that mine was a little off his rocker!! good luck

I think that advice depends on the doctor used and the amount of weight

a person needs to lose. Those of you who start at lower ranges generally

don't have to wait as long as someone like me who started out at over 500.

I have had a RNY in March 2001 and a Tubal reversal in October of

2000. Please check into Dr. Levin. Dr. Berger is good but I am on

other websites and I know he has had a few women with block tubes

after there reversal. I did not use Dr. Levin but I would have if I

had more money. I used a local Dr. he was ok but I have two open

tubes and I am now doing fertility meds to get pregant I have lost

105 pounds and almost a year post op from my RNY.
