Dr Treacy arrived in Bermuda on Tuesday evening and started off on Wednesday

with four patients. I was second on the list. Did four more on Thursday

(the last one being a bi-lateral) and then off to Golf before returning to

the UK. In answer to your questions Yes he can perform a BHR in under an

hour. In the UK in his own surroundings he can achieve a BHR in less than

40 minutes (procedure). In Bermuda it took closer to one hour to perform

the procedure. I had my Left BHR and have not looked back since. 24 hours

later I was using a walker, 48 hours on crutches and tomorrow I am being

discharged from Hospital (Total stay 36 hours). Even though I felt much

anxiety about the operation the post-op pain is nothing compared to what I

have suffered with my hip pre-op. The worst is the wedge of sponge which

now separates my legs at night. I refuse to tie it up. I have been told

that for the rest on my life I may never cross my legs as this could " pop

the hip " out of its socket. I guess a small price to pay considering the

new lease on life I have been given. Other than suffering a little Anemia

post-op everything is fine and I am looking forward to the physio and

getting my sporting life back into shape. I would recommend a BHR, less

invasive, quick recovery and if they ever have to go back there is so much

more to work with.

Good luck to anyone else venturing on this course. They have made a wise

decision.
