Guest guest
Sara, THAT IS FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!! I told you it was only a matter of time. In a few days, she'll be crawling in the brace almost as well as out of it. It'll take a little time to figure out how to sit down after crawling while wearing it (Jakob would just sit up on his knees). Guest guest
That's great. We are still waiting for to crawl. He's up on all 4's rocking back and forth, but hasn't figured out how to crawl. He will be 10 months on the 9th of August. Re: We have a crawler! Hey guys, I just thought I would let you know that Ivy is FINALLY starting to crawl. Guest guest
Hi Sara, Great to hear, that's one less worry : ). We've been wondering if Emma would ever crawl (she's now 9 mo), I guess there's still time. Have you received our package for the scrapbook? Dan & Re: We have a crawler! Ivy will be a year old in about three weeks and is just starting to crawl as of this past weekened. Sara and I were getting concerned, but now she's crawling around like an old pro. So far she's discovered the dogs' water bowl, Ian's toys, and electrical sockets(!). Ian is already getting annoyed that she can get to his toys now. It's really cute to watch (except for the part about the electrical sockets). Sara wrote: > PS. did you add those surgery result links to clubfootnet? I found a couple of studies which indicated up to 35% of surgically treated clubfoot require further surgical intervention because of recurrence, but these studies were limited to about two years. I couldn't find that one that showed up to 47% require further surgery by age 10. I've saved the links I found for later inclusion on the clubfoot.net website and for a letter to BabyTalk magazine (rebutting the claim that surgery, once done, is over with.) One of the studies compared the modified Turco procedure (i.e. posteromedial release) with the Cincinatti incision (i.e. subtalar release). According to that study, 25% of feet corrected with the Turco procedure required further surgy, while the Cincinatti incision had zero incidence of further surgery. Like I mentioned, though, the study was limited to about two years. Another study claimed that the rate of re-surgery was inversely related to the skill of the surgeon. The more skill, the less re-surgery. I did find a study that showed 48% of surgically treated clubfoot have residual clubfoot, although in many cases the kids just live with it. For those who would like to read more on medical studies about clubfoot, I've added a MEDLINE search facility to clubfoot.net. It's easy to use: just type in your search terms, and the National Health Library PubMed search facility will search MEDLINE and related medical journal databases for studies that have your search terms. You can try it here: http://www.clubfoot.net/medical.php3#medline Masoner http://www.clubfoot.net/

Guest guest
Hi Sara, You've been writing to Dan, I guess my messages have a feminine touch : ). We really hope to be in Iowa for Sept 23 and meet everyone as well as have Dr. Ponseti give Emma another look. She's been doing very well so far. As for hair, she has lots but recently spoke to someone who's niece was born with a foot and a half of hair. He said it was almost as long as her body! The staff at the hospital said they had never seen anything like it. Dan Re: Re: We have a crawler! OH yes . You did ask that and I didn't even answer. Sorry.... about that.} Yes it is on Sept 23 at 4pm. Clubfoot clinics are usally on Monday so if Emma needs to be seen mabe you could be worked in. Emma is such a cutie. I love the hair! We had many sonograms with Ivy because I had a complicated pregnacy. In the sonograms you could see her hair floating... it was neat... I really thought that she would have more hair.
