I am 2 yrs + post op (6/22/99) from open rny.

I was about 10 lbs from my " dream " weight when I conceived.

So far I have gained 23 lbs at 29 weeks exactly. Midwives

are happy about that but I can't help but wonder why I'm so

" normal " in terms of gaining weight in this pregnancy ..

perhaps because I'm further out than most of you who seem

to conceive less than a year post op?

Anyway that aside all is well .. bp, urine, yada yada,

passed the gd test .. iron is a bit low but not anemic ..

still taking prenatal vitamins and just started slow fe

although not sure if this is the right time of iron we can

digest properly or not .. anyone know?

11 weeks to go ..

Feeling pretty good overall.

Lyssa (and all) - I, too, am finding that I am " normal " in my weight gain.

I will be 3 years post-op from Open RNY tomorrow (12/1). I had reached my

personal goal of 165 in mid 2000, put on 10 pounds last winter (stress at

work), and was around 175 when I got pg in July. I have now gained about 10

pounds, and am 20 weeks today. Dr says the baby (boy - Zachary) is right on

target size -wise and she is not worried about my wieght. All my lab work

came back with excellent " scores " and I am taking a pre-natal and calcium

supplements (Viactiv)...so, I guess that we post-ops that are longer out

from surgery DO tend to follow more of the " normal " weight gain during

pregnancy. Just my .02! Simonne

Lyssa,

Heavier people generally do not gain as much weight during pregnancy

as lighter people do.

I was pregnant at 257 and gained 15 pounds. My SIL got pregnant at

125 pounds and gained 40 .... go figure. Difference is ... she lost

hers ... I can still look down and see mine. :-(
