Guest guest
is on my plan and my brother lives in Rochester – I wonder if he has anything really useful to offer? Has anyone seen him? My gyno here is the sweetest and kindest doctor ever, but she’s learning as I go. I’ve seen Dr. Kaufman here (he’s on all the articles) but he is getting older (he is probably 80) and just hands out desepramine prescriptions. If that doesn’t work, he doesn’t have too much more to offer. That’s it for the “vulvar specialists” in Houston. I wonder if it would be best to travel – either to Goldstein, or , or back to Dr. in Dallas (I saw her, but probably didn’t stick with her long enough for her to really help me.) I don’t have a lot of time to waste. My question is: Does anyone ever really get help from these doctors – does anyone ever get better from this condition? Or are we just running around trying everything but nothing will ever help? Currently I am bombarded on all sides by advice from other people: 1. One friend who sells Shaklee vitamins thinks that if I take her products I’ll get better. 300.00 a month of vitamins will fix me up, she says. She is so earnest and sincere, but can vitamins really fix nerves? 2. One friend just gave me the book “What you doctor won’t tell you about fibromyalgia” about using guafenisin medication, which does mention vulvodynia. Has anyone tried this guaifenisin for DV, or constant burning? 3. My husband wants me to have my hair down there lasered off (because it irritates me so much) and then have a hysterectomy to fix the prolapses I have. 4. I am thinking about Goldstein’s article about using all those nasty meds at the same time (Neurontin, Effexor, Celebrex, and lidocaine) and being in a brain fog for months, but maybe getting better? I am leaning towards Goldstein’s approach with my doctor here, along with biofeedback and PT, although I dread the side effects of all those nasty meds, What do you think, Dee? I would say this has almost ruined my life, so I really need to keep trying. I would travel to see someone else, if there were any help that could really work for me. I am having a hard time living with this condition. I have passed my one-year anniversary, and am starting my second. I too want to run, exercise, and have enjoyable sex with my husband. Will this ever be possible again? Do these vulvar specialists really know anything different, or are they all giving us the same meds and hoping it will work out for us? Sincerely, Anne in TX I hope this helps to get info about Dr. , I've several articles written about or by him. Sounds like a good guy Dee http://www.stronghealth.com/services/womenshealth/fosterbio.cfm?master_id=4035
