I saw my mom's autopsy report (suicide/undiagnosed Hashimoto's) and what the hypo had done to her body...and the liver was an organ that didn't look so good. I think we hypos need to learn a bit more about repairing our live. Thanks again. Cindi
Guest guest
lets see if i can do this off the top of my head after being at the pool and running boys around all day....*wink* yes, milk thistle is one of the best detoxifiers of the liver out there. but the most important issues to remember are that our livers are filters and they are called on to " filter out " anything foreign to our bodies. so each time we take medication; each time we drink coffee; each time we eat too much processed foods as well as the air we breathe - smoking, second hand smoke, air pollution AND the fertilizers we put on our lawns or the pesticides they use in our foods etc...etc....our livers are called on...sure, things like this in moderate doses will not " kill us " or harm us horribly but if we are on constant meds or even over the counter stuff like ibuprofen etc or we drink more than 2 cups of coffee a day....or we smoke....or we consume the white flour and white sugary stuff alot.....our livers are taxed. and a taxed liver also has a hard time metabolizing estrogen which complicates the whole estrogen dominance issue. AND if our colons are not performing properly (meaning we are not getting enough fiber or we have been on typical American diet for years) then our battle with estrogen is compounded because the excess estrogen that our bodies are trying to extricate becomes reabsorbed. so what have i done? first off, i am trying to clean up my diet - lots of fresh stuff grown organically (we have a garden so that helps a TON) LOTS of water...LOTS of it....the typical 2 q a day, hopefully filtered water....no sodas or sugary drinks for me any more and i have cut WAY back on coffee..... then with the veggies - the darker the better - beets, cabbage, broccoli (which are also no nos for thyroid...go figure)....dark green leafy... i have gone on a couple 3 day live juice fasts with fresh lemon juice...coffee enemas.... some people believe in liver flushing to flush out potential gall stones (info @ that is on a curezone web site) - seems kind of drastic to me but, then again, if what they say is true, then something to consider esp if your health, overall, is not good.... vitamin supplements herbs such as milk thistle, dandelion root etc...etc.... ok that is some of it in a nut shell...there are web sites and books written on detoxifying the body. i am merely a reguritator of what i have read and i am sure i am missing much... Re: Re: adrenal support comparison? Hi, , I've thought about trying milk thistle. Do you use that? I was diagnosed with fatty liver a few years ago. So I know what you mean. (I don't know how I got it. I don't drink alcohol or anything. Perhaps it ties in with hypothyroidism?) Anyhow, can you share what you are doing for your liver? Thanks. in Va. prednisolone is a derivative of prednisone that has been chemically changed for easy passage through the liver. wow...thanks for sharing that cindi. i have done alot of reading on the liver lately and have taken some drastic steps to " detoxify " liver/colon via my eating habits and supplements so when i ordered the prednisilone, i was a little nervous, KNOWING what ANY medication can do to the liver..... i feel better now...;o) karen

I like Lessman's Daily fiber benefits and it's especially good if you do not get enough fiber in your diet because of low carbing...it contain milk thistle, fiber, and several probiotics among other things...tastes like lemonade and fills me up at bedtime. andrew's site is: http://www.yourvitamins.com
Guest guest
well, IMHO, so much of our disease and problems start with the liver/colon. I read somewhere that never have they seen a cancer patient with a non toxic, cleaned out colon. Makes you think huh? I have read alot that indicates that toxicity in our bodies causes sooooooooo many health problems - arthritis, allergies, fatigue (some of the same symptoms as low adrenal/hypo thyroid) and, as usual - what comes first, the chicken or the egg? the hypo or the liver toxicity? maybe good to take care of BOTH right? who knows but I am convinced, in more ways than one, that the liver and kidneys and colon deserve a WHOLE lot more support and attention than we realize - often until it is too late. I was diagnosed with Gilberts Syndrome which is high bile count. Doctors, 2 years ago, ignored it because, according to the medical community, it is an asymptomatic issue. HOWEVER, NOW i realize that something like that is a HUGE indicator that something is wrong but NO ONE said a word. NOW that I have done my own research, a flag has gone off (as it has, once again, with the thyroid/adrenal stuff) - " DUH. If my bile is high than SOMETHING Is not working right... " Maybe some of our more serious diseases start like this ya know? because there are no symptoms, we will ignore a high measurement...OR the flip side....EVEN If there ARE symptoms, the tests say there should NOT be so we ignore that also... Guest guest
If our thyroid is sluggish, our metabolism is slow, and our cholesterol is getting high, doesn't it make sense that other things can build up too? in Va. well, IMHO, so much of our disease and problems start with the liver/colon.
