Guest guest
>>>Thanks to anyone who can provide me with info on the allergy to fish and/or shellfish and taking fish oil supplements. Kim, One of my sons has an anaphylactic reaction to tuna. We found this out after we tried tuna when he was about 3 years old. He can eat other forms of fish such as shrimp, lobster, crab, anchovy, salmon, cod..... Just tuna is a problem for him. Anaphylactic allergies that I have (penicillin) my kids, so far, do not so while allergies may be inherited..WHAT you are allergic to will not NECESSARILY be the same. His doctor explained that it is absolutely possible to allergic to one type of fish and not another, as well as only being allergic to only one type of shellfish and not another, you need to be tested for all types. We asked lots of questions because we just thought it was odd that he could eat pretty much any fish he wanted except tuna-but fish is like any other food..just like some can eat cashew or walnut but not peanut (same son has this problem) My son can and does take fish oil. He cannot take fish oil that is made with tuna so we use fish oil made with anchovy, mackerel, salmon or cod. I would just suggest anyone that has had a reaction get checked for EACH type of fish by an experienced allergist. Hoping this helps Annemarie No matter the storm, when you're with God there's always a rainbow at the end
Guest guest
To second your opinion... I also have a son who has food allergies (shrimp - mild, peanuts - anaphalactic). We've spoken at length with our pediatric allergist about the nature of allergies. You are right, Annemarie, that you pass the gene to be allergic, but not to WHAT your child will be allergic (though there is some evidence that peanut allergies run in families - I don't know if they've translated that information to other food allergies). When we had our son tested for shrimp, we were worried about him being allergic to other fish and we were told (as were you) that you need to be tested for each individual type of fish/shellfish. I totally agree that you should have your child tested for the oil sources AND discuss what you're doing with your child's allergist. I stress this because we were essentially told that perhaps if we had not exposed my son to shrimp until he was 5 or 6, he might have escaped the allergy. I KNOW this is true of peanuts - a child who develops an anaphalactic reaction is about 95% likely to keep it for life - however, the scientific belief is that if these same children weren't exposed until they were older, many would not develop the allergy at all. I don't believe it's stressed enough to avoid peanuts and shellfish until the child is at least over 3 - and even older if the parents have anaphalactic allergies. I also would stress buying the EFAs from reputable sources since you are reliant upon the maker to divulge from whence their oil comes. Welcome to our group. What is your name please? All human bodies are designed to consume good foods from Mother Nature, like fish, in order to be healthy. So what you believe is an allergy may be a reactions to additives in fish, or a " healing reaction " to fish. Good healing foods, herbs and spices do cause healing reactions, which aren't a bad thing, as explained in this article: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/heal14.php Flax and black current oil are not good products to take, and they definitely aren't necessary, nor helpful for anxiety. See this article about things that help with anxiety: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/treat6.php All the best, Bee
Guest guest
I too am severely allergic to fish/all seafood. I have cerebral allergies, my brain swells. Takes a few days to " come back down " . Been into anaphylactic shock twice. I use flax and/or hemp oil for the omega's. I am allergic to eggs but I have my own hens and they are organic. I am able to tolerate a couple of eggs every few days for the omegas in them. I had severe adrenal fatigue on top of my 2 autoimmune disorders, panic attacks, anxiety, mini seizures, and Candida, etc It has been a slow process but I found my healing modality after months of trials and setbacks. I am nearing that finish line. Don't give up. in Kentucky ----- Original Message ----- From: ksjacqann I have been allergic to fish( severely) for the last 15 years.I suffer from anxiety and lately my anxiety has increased with stress level.I do well with flax oil at times an dwonder about black current oil and other nutritional healers for anxiety, thx!
