Now you just relax and give your body a chance to heal it takes anywhere from 6 months to a year to fully heal. Don't worry just eat what you are supposed to at the right stage and you will lose the weight ok. Now you have to work on that head hunger there are plenty of things that are low fat low carb and high protein that taste great and when your surgeon says so you will be able to enjoy them. Remember it takes time so don't become a scale junkie LOL and don't compare yourself to anyone else as far as how fast you are going to be losing ok your body is unique and special and it will lose at a rate that is just right for you. Take care and many blessings are wished your way. I will be in your shoes in just about 11 days Lori Anne pre-op Lap RNY 8/25/
Guest guest
Hi Jess Congratulations on making it to the losing side. Your hospital experience sounded poor, but be reassured that it just keeps getting better everyday now. Don't focus on each lost pound, just do what you are supposed to, walk and sip and walk and sip, and it will happen. I am 2-3 weeks ahead of you, and feel better each day! regards, bill g > Hello everyone, > > My name is Jess, and I just had surgery August 4th. I had been > thinking about having it for over a year. Jess, What you were put through in and of itself was a major ordeal and for these sorry a** creatures that called themselves nurses something should be done. I would get in touch with the " Chief of Staff " of that miserable hospital and file a complaint immediately with him/her. They are there for the patients care and all to quickly the miserable bit**** forget that. I wish I could have been there. I would have had those so and so's beggin to take care of you. I am furious at this. I have had to show my tail when my sister was in for like her forth hernia surgery. When I threatened to get the Chief of Staff in there and cussed em all out I got some real quick results. They don't want their job threatened for sure. My sister said it was her Terms of Endearment moment. lol. But we are grown up adults and people on the street that don't even know us , most times anyway, treat us better. And they are in a job field where care and compassion have to take priority. This has really just ticked me off in the worst kind of way. When I get in there for my surgery they will know my name and my face well if they even remotely try that crap with me. I am so so sorry you went through all of that. To know that people can be so heartless and so cruel. Just know this one day they will be on the other side of the fence. And when they are treated so unkindly lets see how they like it. What goes around comes around!!!!! Now lets let it fly! Wolfie Pre-Op Leeds, Alabama Surgery Date-August 27th Dr. Lee A. Schmitt
Guest guest
Hey Jess, I promise things will get better. YOu have definitely been through the worst part and it only gets better from here. The first thing you have to do is buy a new scale---you are going to love seeing how much weight you are losing, b/c it is such a great feeling! i am 10 months postop, and although i am not eating any big steak dinners, i do enjoy food a lot more now than before my surgery. i know it is not easy living on liquids, but make sure you are drinking enough or you will get dehydrated quickly--i didn't and it was miserable, they had to put me back in the hospital about a month after my surgery. I still have a few bad days every now and then, but if i eat right i usually feel great! just know that you WILL feel better than you did before surgery, it just takes a while. god bless you, michelle Fresh out of surgery <html><body> <tt> Hello everyone,<BR> <BR> My name is Jess, and I just had surgery August 4th. Guest guest
After I read your post, I was curious, so I went to cbs.com and looked it up. It is a verrrry interesting article, if you didn’t see the 60 minutes episode last night. I even printed it out so I could put it in my Gastro File that I have been keeping. I have all sorts of bits and pieces of info that all of you have contributed over the past few months. I want to read and review occasionally. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/03/11/60II/main543614.shtml One of the statements in the article was--- “Implication is that this is one of the ways in which the body fights against weight loss, " says Cummings, which might help explain why millions of yo-yo dieters can’t keep the weight off.” Charlotte Pre-op (tomistic) Re: Fresh out of surgery I watched 60 minutes last night and they talked about a hormone that helps keep heavy people heavy. When an overweight person goes on a diet, this hormone produces more and therefore makes us hungrier than ever which is why it is impossible for MO people to lose weight. The gastric bypass cuts off this hormone, which is why it makes this surgery such a success. --- " MICHELLE B. WALKER " wrote:
