Hi Steve, I talked with today and she said she hates to see Tammy

have a morphine pump put in her when there is a less serious way of blocking

her pain. She said that the radiofrequency nerve block works great for her.

She has had it for four months and it is still doing great. She is concerned

for Tammy and wants her to have the right help for her. Shirley

Shirley : I asked the pain Doc about radiofrequency and he said he had

never heard of doing that for panc pain because the nerves that you have to

burn are so close to the aorta. I told him that someone on the group had it

done. Where did have hers done ? Well talk to you later.

Steve,

I had it done in Fort Myers at Lee Pain management. The nerves they

burnt were the large bracheal nerves that control the smaller nerves

to the pancreas. There were 4 main nerves that they burnt and 2

smaller ones. It works great! Try to find someone in your area that

does it, cause it is wonderful! Another lady is having it done in

Alabama this week. She called my docotr and he gave her the closest

pain doc to her in which he knew that was doing this procedure. I

was my docotrs first panc patient that he tried it on so he said I

will be in the medical journals for this procedure. I am having

another one done in Nov. to burn the nerves that will produce pain

with my surgery I am having in Jan. My doc said he can do it so that

I will be more comfortable after surgery.

Hi Steve-

My name is Adrienne Blue. (new to the group, not to pancreatitis) I

have read almost all of October's posts and can sort-of follow

Tammy's story.

I have also had a nerve block done at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO

(Kansas City suburb). I actually did not have as much success as

sounds like she had. I got about 3-4 days of relief and then

the pain came back. A classic example of how each person wil respond

differently. :)

Let me know if I can help in any way.

Take care,

Adrienne
