WELCOME,

HOPE THIS WILL BE OF HELP. AND WELCOME.

THERE IS A COUPLE TYPES IF ADAPTIVE DEVICES ON THE MARKET. YOU NEED TO GO

TO A MEDICAL SUPPLY STORE FOR THEM OR AN ON LINE SUPPLIER. IT IS A TUBE

TYPE THING COVERED WITH TERRI CLOTH AND LONG STRAPS ON EITHER SIDE. YOU PUT

THE SOCK ON THE TUBE END AND SLIP YOUR FOOT INTO IT AND PULL THE STRAPS.

WALLA THE TUBE SLIPS OFF THE SOCK IS ON . MY DON USED ONE FOR A VERY LONG

TIME BEFORE HE WASN'T ABLE TO DO IT ANY LONGER.

YOUR DON MAY BE ABLE TO USE HIS INDEFINITELY. MY DON TURNED OUT TO ALS SO

HE HAS GOTTEN WORST QUITE RAPIDLY. BUT HE IS HOLDING HIS OWN.

G'day,

I know there are adaptive devices for people that need help putting on their

sox. There are medical supply catalogs, or occupational therapy catalogs on the

internet that should have the devices for sale.

I am sure someone here will have a web page, or place for you to check. I can

get my sox on pretty good, although I can't lift my legs very well anymore.

Pantyhose!!!!!!!!!!!! Those are impossible. I haven't figured out what to do

about them, as I am soon going to be unable to wear them.

I don't suppose your hubby, Don, has to worry about pantyhose, huh?

You can go to your local Medical supply store - the same place that

sells wheelchairs, walkers, etc. and ask for a sock aid. Mine has two

cords attached to a hard nylon shell. It is shaped like half a cylinder.

You put the sock on the cylinder, pulling it completely up to the toe

with the top of the sock at the top of the half cylinder. Then you put

your right foot in, or your left foot, while holding the cords and then

just pull up. The socks will usually just come right up to the calf or

the upper ankle, whichever type sock he wears. It works with most types

of socks, even 13's. That is my shoe size, also, and I have been using

one for my left foot since 1995. I also had elastic laces in my shoes

for some time to help me get them on and off easier. That is no longer a

problem. (I had a hip replacement in July 1995.)

That is one suggestion. They cost anywhere from $20 to $40. Try it in

the store first. I tried one that cut into my foot so badly I thought I

was going to bleed.

Hope this helps,

Mike Gray
