, it had been prescribed for my basset hounds who

get sebaceous cysts but it is the same drug that I

have taken in the past for sinus infections with

success. I realize that I probably should have waited

until today to see the doctor but I knew the drug was

okay for me and I was so miserable from the pain and

swelling (I looked like I had mumps but already had

them as a child) so I thought it couldn't hurt. Also,

my sister who is a nurse in a doctor's office said to

take it. She has seen infected salivary and or lymph

gland patients there. She also said to call my doctor

immediately this morning which I did. Still waiting

to hear back from him. Georgia

Georgia, I hope you will feel better soon. I am just getting over a

mild case of parotiditis myself. I know how how painful it can be.I

Georgia, Glad the anibotics worked...lol But like they say. it is not a good idea to take others meds. there is a lot of meds I can't take because of meds i'm on... you can get into some serious trouble doing your own meds. Praying for you. Carol

I have been having trouble with what I thought wasTMJ. The pain got unbearable Friday, and then mywhole side of my face and under my jaw broke out intoa bright red rash. I had seen the picture ofperititis (sp?) and that was me, rash swelling andall.Since it was the easter weekend, I decided to treatmyself without calling my doctor. I had a big bottleof cephelexin 500 mg. kept on hand for one of mybassets who gets sebaceous cysts. I knew it was goodfor staph infection. I thought what the heck, I willtry it. Guess, what.. By Today, I am feeling a lotbetter. Swelling is gone, rash has faded, and pain isvery mild now. I guess it was not TMJ afterall. I guess it is true that God helps those who helpthemselves, especially with Lupus. P.S. myneurologist thought I had sjogrens and this issomething that is common with it. My first rheumyappt is May l2th, cant wait!! Just think how smartabout this disease I will be before then. Thanks,everyone.
