Hi ,

First some background...I am fairly new to this website. My daughter

, 22 mos. was just diagnosed at the end of Dec. However, I would highly

recommend trying the supplements. I use ProEFA, 1 capsule a day. I started them

after joining this website and the results have been wonderful. She has

probably doubled her vocabulary. Though her articulation is still very poor. But

I

think more important is how much it has helped her desire to try. She was

always very frustrated when prompted to talk, but now she is really trying. You

should ask your pediatrician first before you start them just to get a

professional point of view. But otherwise I personally feel they have been

great for

my daughter.

Good Luck!

My son is 2 3/4. He will be 3 in May. He has been seen by a speech

threapist since 1 1/2. He has been diagnosed by one neurologist as

having PDD-NOS and then by another with apraxia. The second

neurologist suggested putting him on Omega 3/6. He suggested the

liquid by Nordic Naturals. I have searched online for Omega 3/6 and

see that other companies make it as well.

I would love to hear from others who have used Omega 3/6. Have you

seen a difference? If you did how fast, how much of a difference. Do

you think the type matters? By that I mean is there a difference

between using the Nordic Naturals suppliment comparied to another

brand.

Thanks for your info.

We have been using Omega 3/6 for around 2 years. I started with the brand

Efalex and found it to be more expensive due to the amount needed to give (I

opened the capsules) because it would take up to 6 capsules a day to get the

dose in Nordic Naturals. I then tried mixing the formulas on my own to meet what

the nordic naturals brand had. It was cheaper but the oils smelled horrid. I

finally started using Nordic Naturals, started with ProEFA or Complete Omega

(the same), which can be purchased in liquid form. We have now added EPA. We

started with once ProEFA, noticed a plateau and increased to two noticed a

plateau 6 months later and added EPA and one ProEFA. We have been using the

Nordic Naturals brand for at least 18 months and they are great.

With my son, we started using when he was completely nonverbal (two sounds ah

and eh). It took about a two weeks to start noticing changes in my sons

concentration and willingness to be more on task. His therapist noticed at

about that time and were very impresssed. His speech was much longer to come

along, don't know how much is therapy or how much is the supplements. He talks

in sentences now and is about 50% intelligible to strangers. He also has eczema

and he stayed with his grandparents for a few days about 2 months ago, they

forgot to give the med and then my husband was in charge for a week after than

with him forgetting the supplement and he had a huge outbreak of eczema, it took

us about a month of solid giving the meds to get it improved. His attitude also

improved. He is 4y10m and always trying to test the limits and his attitude

definitely needed some work but part improved with just getting the supplement

back on schedule.

Daphne, can you tell me what dose of EPA you give your son? Is it

by Nordic Naturals also? I am interested in adding this to my sons

Pro-EFA...we've seen a plateau and I am impatient to get the next

surge!
